1914-2010 - Evelyn Walsh passed away peacefully at The Moncton Hospital on May
1st, 2010. Her last year and a half were spent at The Golden Years Estate,
Salisbury Road, but Evelyn spent her entire life in Upper Coverdale. She is
survived by her only son Austin Walsh, of Upper Coverdale, daughters; Margaret
Walsh Salter of Vancouver, BC and Elizabeth Walsh of Lower Sackville, NS, two
grand-daughters; Darla Somerville (Peter) of Unionville, ON, Shelley Dayton
(Grant) of Upper Coverdale, NB, four great-grandchildren; Parker and Tyler
Somerville of Unionville, ON, Myles and Madison Dayton of Upper Coverdale, NB,
as well as several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents
William and Louise (Jonah) Mitton, her loving husband of 39 years John "Jack"
Walsh, who passed away in 1978, a girl in infancy, sister Celia Mitton,
brothers; Harold Mitton (Marguerite) and Early Mitton (Charlotte). Evelyn was
a life-long member of Coverdale United Church and will be remembered for her
wit, her love of life and her spontaneity to go where ever the car was headed.
She kept her mind sharp by completing the daily crypto quotes. Her cooking
abilities will be remembered by the countless farm hands who worked on the
Walsh Farm and the many guests who tasted her pies and cookies. She was active
in the CO-OP Center since it's inception, the 4-H Club and she enjoyed
socializing at quilting bee's, and games of crib & 45's. Her quiet time was
spent gazing out her dining room window and from her veranda admiring the
birds at her feeders.
Resting at Fair Haven Funeral Home, visitation will be held on Wednesday
evening, May 5th from 7 to 9 pm. The funeral service will be held at 2 o'clock
in the Chapel of Fair Haven Funeral Home on Thursday, May 6th 2010, Rev. Danny
Compton officiating . Reception to follow in The Garden View Reception Room of
the funeral home. Private family interment at Wesleyan Union Cemetery, Upper
Coverdale. In lieu of Flowers, donations in Evelyn's memory may be made to the
Coverdale United Church building fund, or a charity of your choice. Funeral
arrangements have been entrusted to Fair Haven Funeral Home (506) 852-3530

OBITUARY: Mrs. Charles Skerry
Mrs. Dora Skerry, wife of Charles Skerry, Lakeville, passed away at her home
on Tuesday, March 19, following 10 years of failing health. Born in Advocate,
Cumberland County, she would have celebrated her 80th birthday on Easter
Sunday. She was the daughter of the late James and Emma Morris Knowlton.
Following her early schooling in Advocate, Mrs. Skerry worked at the
dressmaking trade in Massachusetts until her marriage in 1901 in Roxbury,
Mass. Three years later Mr. and Mrs. Skerry moved to their present home in
Lakeville, where Mr. Skerry operated a farm. Mrs. Skerry, until a few years
ago, was an active worker in church and community affairs. She was a member of
the United Church of Canada and a life member of the Women's Missionary
Society. Surviving besides her husband are two sons, Chester, Hopedale, Mass.;
Ronald, Lakeville; one daughter, Irene (Mrs. Wilfred Salter), Westville,
Pictou Co.; and one granddaughter, Vilda, student nurse at the V.G. Hospital,
Halifax; also 21 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren. Funeral services
were held from the Billtown Baptist Church at 2:30 p.m. Thursday afternoon
with Rev. Kenneth Morrison officiating, assisted by Rev. George A.D. Elliott,
Waterville. Pallbearers were Pern Hadey, George Robinson, Edward Morton and
Clifton Sawler. Burial was in the family lot, Lakeview Cemetery.

Salter, Irene Knowlton - 93, Union Centre, Pictou Co., died August 31, 1995 in
Valley View Villa, Riverton. Born in Boston, she was a daughter of the late
Charles and Dora (Knowlton) Skerry. She was instrumental in organizing and
operating the Little Red School Community Hall. She was an adherent of Salem
Presbyterian Church and a resident of Valley View Villa for the past four
years. Surviving are daughters, Doris Legge, Lakeville; Phyllis and Bob
Schinzel, Ottawa; Treva and David Gordon, Millbrook; Rose Lenehan, Toronto;
Violet Oldford and Lloyd Hughes, Westville; Helen and John Robinson,
Scotsburn; sons, Vernon, Union Centre; Allison and Isabel, Westville; Ron and
Myrna, Union Centre; Garnet and Margaret, North River, N.B.; Henry and Joanie,
Union Centre; daughter-in-law, Marion Slater, Toronto; son-in-law, Murray
Mann, Salem; 38 grandchildren; 62 great grandchildren. She was predeceased by
her husband, Wilfred; son, Charles (Bud); daughters, Joyce Mann, Hazel;

WESTVILLE - Leonard Barry "BJ" Joudrey, age 72 years, Spring Garden Road,
Westville, passed away on Tuesday evening, November 11, 2003, at home. Born in
New Glasgow, August 4, 1931, he was a son of the late Seymour and Irene
(Barrie) Joudrey. He was an employee of Hawker Siddeley Ltd., Trenton, for 24
years until retirement. A quiet person, he took many long drives with his wife
enjoying the countryside. He will be sadly missed by his wife of 18 years,
Yvonne (nee Hatchi); daughters, Helen (Glen) Fraser, Middle River, Marlayne
MacDonald, Westville; son Lorne, Halifax; step-children, Audrey (Alex) Brewer,
Thorburn; Joan (Ben) Kaiser, New Glasgow; John Wilson, Linacy, and sixteen
grandchildren. Also surviving are sisters, Kay (Bert) Hale, Westville; Shirley
(Bill) Bonnar, Westville; brother, Bill (Jackie), Florida; a sister- in-law
Kay Joudrey, Westville; and eleven nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a
brother Willard. Visitation will be held today 7-9 p.m. at Eagles Funeral
Home, Westville, followed by cremation. Graveside committal service will be
held 11 a.m. Saturday at St. Bees Cemetery, Westville. Donations in his memory
may be made to the Palliative Care Society of the Aberdeen Hospital or to the
V.O.N.
