Keith Allison Spicer

1949-2020

Keith Allison Spicer

Keith Allison Spicer - age 71, of Kentville, passed away peacefully, at home,
on Saturday, October 31, 2020 after a courageous battle with cancer. Born in
Wolfville, he was the son of the late Earle and Dorothy (Lane) Spicer. As a
successful retail manager in the Annapolis Valley and HRM, Keith started his
career at the old IGA in Windsor before moving over to manage front-end retail
operations for several pharmacy chains. He enjoyed the last 19 years of his
working life at Carl Trider's Pharmasave in Windsor. Undaunted by marathon
commutes to the stores under his oversight, Keith and Joan called Windsor,
Lunenburg, Hantsport, and finally Kentville their home. A certifiable
motorcycle and car enthusiast, Keith owned all sizes and makes of motorcycles
(including now-classic Velocettes) and it was always a lottery as to what type
of car he was driving at any given time. He adored Corvettes, and even
ownership of a pristine BMW Z4 didn't quench his desire for one of those
classic American sports cars. He loved driving and motorcycling and would head
out with Joan on day trips on two or four wheels just because the road
beckoned. And make no mistake - if there was a plate of decent fish and chips
somewhere along the journey that was the icing on the cake. Keith is survived
by his wife of 49 years, Joan (Leslie), Kentville; brothers, Clarence (Verna),
High River, Alberta; and Gary (Brigitte), Kentville; sisters, Celia Crowell
(Doug) and Sylvia Crowell, both of Hortonville; numerous cousins, nieces and
nephews throughout North America. He was predeceased by his parents Earle and
Dorothy Spicer and brother-in-law Maynard (Jake) Crowell. A private funeral
service will be held in the White Family Funeral Home, Kentville. Burial will
take place in the Elm Grove Cemetery, Steam Mill following the service. An
online webcast of the service will be available at 2:00 p.m. on Friday,
November 6, 2020. The family wishes to thank Dr. Bruce Coldwell, Halifax, the
Annapolis Valley Palliative Care in Wolfville, the Cancer Care program and
staff at Valley Regional Hospital, the Carey Me Fund, the pharmacy staff at
Wilson's Pharmasave in Kentville, EHS Nova Scotia, and the Victorian Order of
Nurses. Your assistance, commitment, compassion, and professionalism have been
invaluable during this difficult time, and we thank you for your dedicated
service. Donations in Keith's memory may be made to the Carey Me Fund,
Annapolis Valley Palliative Care, and/or the Valley Regional Hospital
Foundation. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the White Family
Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Kentville. For online condolences,
