[nscumber] Obit: WHEATON, Shirley Margaret [nee MacDONALD]
SHIRLEY MARGARET WHEATON
21-Apr-1936 - 16-Dec-2019
Obituary Overview
In Loving Memory of Shirley Wheaton
It is with heavy hearts that the family of Shirley Margaret Wheaton, age 83
announce her peaceful passing on December 16th, 2019 with her family by her
side.
Born in Amherst, NS on April 21st, 1936, she was the daughter of the late
Cecil and Eliza (Cormier) MacDonald.
Shirley lived life to the fullest, surrounding herself with those she loved.
Her quick wit, sense of humor and carefree philosophy of life, helped to make
some the best of memories. Shirley enjoyed the outdoors, especially teaching
her sons to hunt and fish. What began as long drives down dirt roads with her
sons and no gas, quickly became roads retraced when teaching her grand-
daughters how to put a worm on a hook. When not enjoying the outdoors, you
could always find Shirley proudly watching her sons play sports, in front of
the television cheering for her favorite baseball team, the Toronto Blue Jays,
finding a good yard-sale or playing Bingo - which led to a few bus trip to the
states. One of her favorite adventures later in life was her trips to the
casino.
Shirley will be lovingly remembered by her companion, Alvin Bernard of
Dorchester, NB; sons, Kim (Kimberly) Wheaton of Fenwick, NS; Brian (Tam)
Wheaton of Saskatoon and two grand-daughters of which she was very proud,
Katelyn and Megan (Matthew) Wheaton of Fenwick, NS.
Besides her parents, Shirley was predeceased by her only brother, Robert
MacDonald.
The family would like to extend a heartfelt thanks to the staff at The Drew
Nursing Home in Sackville, NB as well as the Brunswick Unit Nursing Staff at
the Sackville Memorial Hospital.
Cremation has taken place under the care and direction of Campbell's Funeral
Home, 98 Church Street, Amherst (902) 667-9906.
A graveside service will take place in the spring in St. Charles - Nativity
Cemetery, Amherst.
Memorial contributions may be made in Shirley's memory to Diabetes Society or
a charity of your choice.
