Obituary Overview
In Loving Memory of Marion Baxter
It is with saddened hearts that we announce the passing of Marion Josephine
Baxter, age 97 of Amherst, on Thursday, January 9, 2020, at Gables Lodge with
her loving family by her side.
Born in Tidnish, she was the only daughter of the late Harold "Hal" and Adella
(Oxley) Baxter.
She had been employed for many years at Douglas Rogers Ltd. and Nova Scotia
General Insurance Co. as a stenographer and insurance underwriter. One of her
greatest joys was to be with her family, especially on special occasions. In
her younger years she also enjoyed music, knitting, crocheting and sewing.
Marion was also a member of Trinity St. Stephens United Church and Past Noble
Grand of Miriam Rebekah Lodge #36. She also enjoyed her time as a resident at
White Birches, Amherst.
Marion is survived by her daughter Judith (Harvey) Haynes; grandchildren,
Glenna Mae Cole, Shelley (Greg) Mattix, Charlene Tuttle (Kevin Smith), Kevin
Tuttle (Dawn Simmonds), Tanya (Ricky) Comeau, Natalie LeBlanc and Gregg
LeBlanc; several great grandchildren and great great grandchildren as well as
many nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents, Marion was predeceased by her two sons, Donald Tuttle,
and Eric Tuttle and her first husband, Chalmers Tuttle and second husband,
Matthew Baxter; brothers, Chester, Gerald, Lawrence, Harold, and infant
brother Robert Baxter.
Marion was the last surviving member of her immediate family.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Campbell's Funeral Home, 98 Church Street,
Amherst, (902) 667-9906.
A private family burial will take place in the Tidnish Riverside Cemetery in
the spring.
Memorial contributions may be made in Marion's memory to the Heart and Stroke
Foundation or a charity of your choice.
