## OBITUARY FOR GEORGINA MCARTHUR

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Georgina "Gea" Anne
McArthur on May 13, 2020 at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Hospital. She was born on
March 1, 1938 in Springhill, NS, to the late Albert M. and Kathleen G
(Hopkins) Rector.  
In addition to her parents, Gea is predeceased by her brothers Arthur "Bud" M.
and Albert "Ab" M. Rector. She is survived by her loving husband Edward "Ed"
McArthur; sons Eddie (Jeanette) and Keith McArthur (Cathey); grandchildren
Chris, Jennifer Davies (Chris), Jolene Adams (Bobby) and Michael; great-
grandchildren Cailum, Jenessa, Alex, Joseph, Coleten, Nathan, Cameron,
Brayden, Eva and Mya; sister Ardeth Lowther; sister-in-law Lorraine Rector, as
well as many nieces and nephews. Gea managed the Oromocto office for Cable
Vision from 1972 - 1977 until they were posted to Toronto, ON, where she
worked for Eatons company in document control. Upon her return to NB, she
worked for Cable Vision again until 1982, when Ed retired from the military
and they were able to travel across Canada that summer. Gea was a past worthy
mistress of Lincoln LOBA (Ladies Orange Benevolent Association). She enjoyed
quilting, reading and many other crafts. Also, since 1969 she was a member of
the Mick Mack Trailer Club, and spent 50 amazing summers enjoying friends and
family. Gea was very active in politics, she spent years working with Core,
and Peoples Alliance.  
A memorial service will be held at Lincoln Baptist Church on, Tuesday, July
14, 2020 at 2 pm with Mr. Don Longworth officiating. Lincoln Baptist Church
and McAdam's Funeral Home will have staff available to advise guests on
procedures without breaking the social distancing requirements. An interment
will be held in the Lower Lincoln cemetery following the service. For those
who wish, memorial donations may be made to a charity of your choice. Online

Edward McArthur son of Alfred MacArthur and Thelma Gilroy MacArthur of
Springhill.

Obituary: T. Alfred McArthur, 60, 118 Herrett Road, Springhill, died Monday,
Dec. 1, 1986, in Highland View Hospital, Amherst. Born in Springhill, he was a
son of Mrs. Stella (Halliday) McArthur and the late A. Garfield McArthur. He
was an avid hunter and fisherman, and a long time holder of a provincial
guiding license. Most of his working years was spent in lumbering, coal
mining, and gun smithing. He was an adherent of the united Baptist Church,
Springhill. Besides his mother, he is survived by his wife, the former Thelma
Grace Gilroy, three sons, Edward, Frederickton; Lloyd, Saskatoon; Gordon,
Kentville; three daughters, Norma (Mrs. George Henwood), Oromocto, N.B.;
Lillian (Mrs. Ian Lockhart), Weston, Ont.; Loretta (Mrs. Patrick Turnbull),
Garson, Ont.; three brothers, Burton, Springhill; Malcolm, Hawkston, Ont.;
Ralph, Collingwood, Ont.; two sisters, Mrs. Bertha Terry, Collingwood; Dorothy
(Mrs. Clarence Roode), Wyvern; 14 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren. He
was predeceased by a sister, Adelaide. His remains rested in A. H. Brown
Funeral Home, Springhill from where the funeral service was held Thursday, the
Rev. George Mollins officiating. Burial in Rodney Cemetery.

  

  

Obituary: Thelma Grace McArthur, 98 years of Lincoln, NB and formerly of
Springhill, passed away on Wednesday, October 12, 2011, in Oromocto Public
Hospital, Oromocto, N. B. Born 1913 in Collingwood, she was a daughter of the
Late Guy Bruce and Myrtle (Austin) Gilroy. Thelma was a member of Springhill
Baptist Church and an adherent of Lincoln United Church where she resided with
her son Edward since 1999. She will be sadly missed by 3 sons, Edward
(Georgina), Lincoln,NB, Lloyd, Saskatoon,SK and Gordon (Donna), Kentville;
two daughters, Lillian (Ian) Lockhart, Erin, ON and Loretta Turnbull, Garson,
ON; son-in-law, George Henwood, Harvey, NB 14 grandchildren, 23 great
grandchildren and 10 great great grandchildren; sister, Helen Wilson, Caperol,
ON. Besides her parents she was predeceased by her husband, Thomas Alfred, a
daughter, Norma, 4 brothers, Floyd, Merle, Russell and Morton, 2 sisters,
Beatrice and Evelyn and daughter-in-law, Joan. Funeral arrangements have been
entrusted to A. H. Brown Funeral Home,  Springhill. Funeral service will be
held 2:00 pm, Monday, October 17, 2011 from the Springhill Baptist Church, 47
Church Street, Springhill, with The Reverend Brent MacDonald officiating and
assisted by The Reverend Jamie MacArthur. Burial in Rodney Cemetery, Cumb.
