We are saddened to share the news of Phil's death just before his 75th
birthday. He was a kind and generous man who will be fondly remembered by his
former wife, Virginia, his daughters Sandra, Karen (Jason) and Ann-Marie
(Peter) as well as his sister Sue Grant, nephews Doug (Kristen) and Brian
(Katie) and niece Cheryl Grant. Phil was predeceased by his parents, Ralph and
Grace (Wilson) Spicer. He was born and raised in New Westminster where he
graduated from Lester Pearson High School (1961) before moving to Vancouver
and graduating from the University of British Columbia with a B.Comm (1968).
At University Phil was an active participant in the Alpha Tau Omega Fraternity
where he formed lifelong friendships. After UBC Phil embarked on a successful
career with the Royal Bank of Canada until retiring in 1974 to become a land
developer and contractor. He was very proud of the many quality homes he built
in Vancouver and Richmond, BC. Phil loved to travel with his family and
friends. Trips to Europe, Hawaii and Mexico were particularly wonderful
experiences. The yearly excursions to Bowser and Osoyoos with good friends and
their families were also great fun. In his spare time Phil enjoyed fishing
(Stewart Lake, Stikine River), challenging Karen and his friend Alice to Crib
games and playing Bridge at the Kerrisdale Community Centre.

There will be no memorial service at Phil's request. Donations may be made in
his memory to the Heart & Stroke Foundation of B.C. and Yukon.
