EAGLES, Harold E. - 76, Lower Five Islands, Colchester County, died April 23, 1994, in Colchester Regional Hospital, Truro. Born at Peter's Mountain,Colchester County, he was a son of the late James and Ruth (Wood) Eagles.  He
was a retired lumberman, fisherman and milk truck driver. He was an elde r
and treasurer of Lower Five Islands United Church for over 40 years; memb er
of Foster Parent Association and an avid square dancer. He is survived b y
his wife, the former Frances MacBurnie; three daughters, Joyce (Mrs. Very le
Lewis), Lower Five Islands; Elaine Davison, Halifax; Debbie, Banff, Alta ..;
**_foster daughter, Patty (Mrs. Don Reed)[sic], Lower Sackville_ ; son, Terry,
Toronto; six sisters, Mrs. Edna Ross, Mrs. Annie Waller, Mr s. Freeda Lewis,
all of Truro; Mrs. Evelyn Phinney, Mrs. Edith Yorke, Elsie (Mrs. Roland
Davis), all of Five Islands; brother, Clarence, Truro; three  grandchildren;
**_three foster grandchildren_**. He was predeceased by four sisters,
Blanche, Floretta, Hazel, Inez; brother, Hilbert. Funeral will be 2 p.m.
today in Peniel United Church, Five Islands, Rev. Robert Ma ck officiating.
Burial to follow in Lower Five Islands Cemetery. Donations  may be made to
Lower Five Islands United Church Building Fund or any charit y.  Arrangements
are under the direction of Smith's Funeral Home, Parr sboro.

Donald Stewart Priest

1940-2020

Donald  Stewart Priest

Priest, D onald Stuart, 79, Economy, passed away quietly on Monday, February,
10, 202 0 at Cedarstone Enhanced Care, Truro. Born in Economy, he was the son
of th e late Robert and Evelena (Newton) Priest. Donald "Dad", "Grampy", will
for ever be in our hearts and will be missed deeply. Donald was a 30 year
veter an Volunteer of the Economy Fire Brigade. He most enjoyed time with his
bel oved horses owned by dear friends, Lionel and Gordon Lewis. He also loved
h is yearly horse-drawn wagon train ride to the camp in the fall, and
enjoyin g the food as well. One of Donald’s favorite pastimes was to
split  and cut wood with good friends Andrew and Leonard McBurnie.



He is survived by daughters, Sheila (Jason) McCulloch of Ontario, **_Patricia
(Donny) Reid, Nova Scotia_** , Ta mmy (Phil) Dean, Nova Scotia; sister, Donna
Colburn of BC; grandchildren, D avid, Anthony, Nayomie, Ryan, **_Corey,
Kevin, Kyle_** and Christop her; six great grandchildren.



Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his sister, Vivian; brother in-law, Percy Bethune; mothers life partner, James Welton.

Visitation will take place on Friday, Feb. 14t h from 1:00 pm followed by
funeral service at 2:00 pm. in the Mattatall~Var ner Funeral Home, 55 Young
Street, Truro. Reverend Florence Antle-Brison wi ll officiate with burial to
take place at a later date in the Economy Cemet ery, Economy. Donations in
memory may be made to the Economy Fire Brigade o r to the Economy Cemetery.

Frances E. Eagles Obituary< /div>



   Eagles, Frances E. �� Age 91, of Lower Five Islands. It is with
profound sadness but with  much thankfulness and joy for a life well-lived
and well-loved, that we ann ounce the passing of our beloved Mom, Nana and
Gran-Nana, Frances E. (MacBu rnie) Eagles on Tuesday, March 10, 2020 at the
Colchester East Hants Health Centre, Truro. She was a daughter of the late
Alfred and Myrtle (Lockhart) MacBurnie. Born in 1929 at Five Islands, it was
here she spent her youth a nd met the love of her life, Harold Eagles and
also where they built their  life together after being married on September
22, 1946. Together they rais ed five children and were foster parents to many
others for over 15 years.  Frances was an avid volunteer in her community,
she was a founding member o f the Cobequid Outlook, treasurer of both the
Cobequid Garden Club and the  Lower Five Islands United Church for a number
of years and was involved mos t recently with the Five Islands Seniors Club.
Frances is perhaps best know n for her incredible green thumb, as she and
Harold spent much time togethe r working in their beautiful gardens in their
later years. They were also a vid square dancers and enjoyed camping with
their many friends until Harold 's passing in 1994. Since then, Frances was
incredibly independent, enjoyin g her work with her plants and the company of
her friends and family, spend ing summers at the Eagles Pit at Sand Point. As
her health declined, she sp ent the last year living with Joyce and Veryle
and her faithful pal, Scruff y. Frances will be sadly missed by her son,
Terry (Pat Murray) Eagles; daug hters, Elaine Davison, Joyce (Veryle Lewis)
Eagles, Debbie (Gerry Leveque)  Eagles, Patty (Donnie) Reid; grandchildren,
Chris (Dawn) Davison, Terry (Ki m) Davison, Tiffiany (Brian) Ward, **_Corey
Reid, Kevin (Cait) Reid, Kyl e Reid_** ; great-grandchildren, Mia, Liam,
Abigail, Lucas, Brennen, Ia n and Little Mia; brothers, Glendon (Maxine)
MacBurnie and Ronald (Beth) Ma cBurnie; sister, Leora Lewis. Besides her
parents and her husband Harold, s he was predeceased by her sister, Joyce
Grue; a brother, Roland MacBurnie,  and step-mother Hazel (Killen) MacBurnie.
Our family would like to thank Dr .. Karen Ewing for her compassionate care
over the many years, the doctors a nd nurses of 3D at CEHHC, Sheryl Stevens
and the many nurses and staff of t he VON who supported us in Frances' care.
Visitation will be held 6-8 p.m.  Thursday, March 12, 2020 at Smith's Funeral
Home, Parrsboro. Funeral servic e will be held at 2 pm on Friday, March 13,
2020 at the Peniel United Churc h in Five Islands, Rev. Florence Antle-Brison
officiating. Burial in the Me thodist Cemetery, Lower Five Islands. Reception
to follow in the lower leve l of the Peniel United Church. Memorial donations
to Peniel United Church o r to the Colchester East Hants Health Centre
Foundation.
