William "Bill" Edward Heffernan

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved Father,
Grandfather, Uncle and Companion, William "Bill" Edward Heffernan on July 8,
2020 at the age of 89.

Born in Springhill on January 4, 1931 he was the oldest child of Wyndham
"Shig" and Muriel (Hatton) Heffernan.

Bill had a successful and rewarding career with Via Rail where he made many
memories and life long friends. He was fortunate to retire at a young age and
spent his retirement doing the things he loved most in life which included
hunting, fishing, driving his 4 wheeler and spending time with family and
friends. Known for his generosity, kind spirit and laugh he never turned
down an opportunity to play a game of cards or to take a trip to his favorite
place - his camp at Simpsons Lake.

He will be greatly missed by his long time companion Helen Clarke and her son
Kevin (Virginia), his sons David and Carl (Paula) Heffernan and his only
daughter Diana Heffernan. Bill was adored by his grandchildren, Lesley,
Krista, Joe, Mike, Jamie, Matthew, Connor, Miranda, Samantha, Jacob and
Kristen and nine great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Bill had a special relationship with his friends Don (Kathy) Beaton and Jim
McNutt and enjoyed their many visits and trips to the hunting camp throughout
the years.

In addition to his parents, Bill was predeceased by his wife Janice (Mooring)
Heffernan and sisters Linda Jean and Dorna Mae (in infancy), as well as his
special Aunt Jean Heffernan.

Arrangements are under the care and direction of the A H Brown Funeral Home, 5
McFarlane Street, Springhill, (902 597 2361). A Family Graveside Service will
be held from Hillside Cemetery in Springhill at a later date.

His family would like to extend their thanks to the medical professionals at
the Cumberland Regional Health Care Centre who supported and cared for him.

Should friends desire, memorial contributions may be made to Springhill
Baptist Church, Springhill, NS

Online condolences and sharing of memories may be sent to the family by
