[nscumber] Obituary -2014- Mary Sylvia Chisholm (Tibbetts connected Ward's Brook)

 

             

CHISHOLM, Mary Sylvia
Age 78, of Hali­fax, passed away  peacefully Friday, January 10, 2014, in
the Halifax In­firmary, QEII,  af­ter a courageous battle with lung cancer
and Alz­heimer’ s disease.  She kept her sense of humour and love
for her family through it all. Born i n  Halifax on April 16, 1935, she was
a daugh­ter of the late Roy A. and C lare  Chisholm (Cable). She is
survived by her loving son , Ted  Tibbetts, and sister, Edna Gillis. Sylvia
was a de­vout Catholic and  had a special de­votion to Saint
Thérèse of Lisieux, the Litt le Flower.  Proud and loving aunt to
many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by brothers,  John  and Paul; sisters,
Ruth and Catherine. Sylvia was an employee with the Fede ral  Government
for many years in Halifax. As a mature student, she studied offi ce 
administration at Mount Saint Vincent University. Sylvia made friends easily.  She was an avid bowler and curler and loved the competition at the
bridge t able.  For the past year she was helped at home by caregivers from
Home In­ste ad.  Special thanks to Karen, Rose, Vanessa, and Elizabeth who
brought fun and  laughter into her home, and to Joy Moulton her kind friend
and neighbour. M any  thanks to the team of doctors and nurses who attended
to her at the  Infir­mary. Visitation will be in Cruiksh­ank’s
Halifax Fun eral Home,  2666 Windsor St., on Thursday, January 16, from 2-4
p.m. and from 6-8 p.m.  Mass  of Christian Burial on Friday, January 17, at
10:30 a.m. in St Theresa��s Church,  6351 North St., Halifax.
Reception in the church af­ter mass. Interment in  Gate of Heaven Cemetery,
