[nscumber] Obituary -2014- Mary Sylvia Chisholm (Tibbetts connected Ward's Brook)
CHISHOLM, Mary Sylvia
Age 78, of Halifax, passed away peacefully Friday, January 10, 2014, in
the Halifax Infirmary, QEII, after a courageous battle with lung cancer
and Alzheimer’ s disease. She kept her sense of humour and love
for her family through it all. Born i n Halifax on April 16, 1935, she was
a daughter of the late Roy A. and C lare Chisholm (Cable). She is
survived by her loving son , Ted Tibbetts, and sister, Edna Gillis. Sylvia
was a devout Catholic and had a special devotion to Saint
Thérèse of Lisieux, the Litt le Flower. Proud and loving aunt to
many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by brothers, John and Paul; sisters,
Ruth and Catherine. Sylvia was an employee with the Fede ral Government
for many years in Halifax. As a mature student, she studied offi ce
administration at Mount Saint Vincent University. Sylvia made friends easily. She was an avid bowler and curler and loved the competition at the
bridge t able. For the past year she was helped at home by caregivers from
Home Inste ad. Special thanks to Karen, Rose, Vanessa, and Elizabeth who
brought fun and laughter into her home, and to Joy Moulton her kind friend
and neighbour. M any thanks to the team of doctors and nurses who attended
to her at the Infirmary. Visitation will be in Cruikshank’s
Halifax Fun eral Home, 2666 Windsor St., on Thursday, January 16, from 2-4
p.m. and from 6-8 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial on Friday, January 17, at
10:30 a.m. in St Theresa��s Church, 6351 North St., Halifax.
Reception in the church after mass. Interment in Gate of Heaven Cemetery,
33 Old Sackville Rd., Lower Sackville, to follow. To send on-line
