Obituary Overview

  

In Loving Memory

Mary Elizabeth Burke (nee: Corey) (MacGilvray) completed her journey on earth
this 28th day of August 2020 in Amherst, NS. Mary was born on August 29th,
1919 in Cherryvale NB, to Frank Gates Corey and Caroline Elizabeth (Greeno).
She was the last surviving member of her family.

  

She is survived by one daughter Arlene (Roger) Melanson of Fenwick, NS. Four
Grandchildren, Brad (Kathy) Melanson of Quispamsis, NB, Kimberly (Kim) Wheaton
of Fenwick, NS, Jocelyn (Michael) Steeves of Grand Bay, NB and Jennifer (Kim)
Adair of Petitcodiac, NB. Eight Great-Grandchildren Ryan (Emily Colwell)
Melanson and Becca Melanson of Quispamsis, NB, Katelyn Wheaton and Megan (Matt
Hicks) Wheaton of Fenwick, NS, Keven Steeves of Thompson, MB, Lyndsie Prosser
of PE, Cailin Adair of Moncton, NB, Abigail Adair of Petitcodiac, NB and three
Great-Great Grandchildren Maia, Kieran and Elliott.

  

Mary spent many hours working with her hands making amazing needle points,
quilting and knitting many, many pairs of Nana mittens. Her travels took her
from Newfoundland to Tofino, BC, the Caribbean and Mexico. One of her
favourite vacation destinations was Florida, taking many trips to see The
Mouse, with two of her great granddaughters. Everyone who knew and loved Mary,
made comments of her quick wit and humor which lasted into her final days.

  

Mary was predeceased by her parents, her four brothers Archie, Hank, Allan and
Russell, one sister Marjorie, first husband Carson Leroy MacGilvray, second
husband John Alfonse Burke and one daughter Marina Holt.

  

"In Time: May the sun bring you new energy by day. May the moon light your
path and renew you by night. May the rain wash away your sorrow and the gentle
breeze blow new strength into your weary bones. May you begin to walk softly
once more and you see the beauty in it all.

Cremation has taken place under the care and direction of Campbell's Funeral
Home, Amherst, NS (902) 667 - 9906.

  

A Celebration of Mary's Life will be held at a later date.
