John Oland Siddall, passed away peacef ully at home surrounded by his loving
family on July 23, 2020. Born in Amhe rst, NS on May 23, 1933 he was the son
of the late J. Hedley and Norma Sidd all.
John’s greatest joy in life was his family. He is survived by his
wife, Donna of 66 years and predeceased by his son John Allen. Bless ed with
three loving daughters, Norma, Leanne and Sharon (Ivan) and grandda ughters
Heather (Jason) and Jennifer (Jeff). He spent countless summer s by the
pool with his girls. Diving in and making a huge splash – that was
always their favourite. He loved barbecuing the perfect steak and was always
cracking a joke. They were his world and he was theirs. He was a man who
enjoyed the simpler things in life. When visiting with his daughte r Norma,
you could always find him with a cup of tea and playing cards. He loved
spending time at Sharon and Ivan’s home in McKees Mills, goin g
fishing as he loved to be out on the water. You could often find him puttering around next door at Leanne’s home, playing with the dog or fixing something that most likely didn’t even need to be fixed. He enjoyed the company of his family and friends with a big bowl of ice cream onhis lap.
Christmas gifts were always easy for John. A golf cart renewal made our
Christmas shopping a breeze. He loved to golf and was a natural p ro. As soon
as the course opened in the spring you could be sure he and Don na were the
first ones there. We are so thankful he was able to get a few l ast rounds in
this spring. When not golfing, you could find him chuckling f or hours
sitting in his chair watching Judge Judy or playing bridge. He wil l be
missed by so many close long time friends and family. Most recent ly he
became a great–grandfather. The joy and light that Roman and Ainslie
brought to him was undeniable. He adored the little ones.
Due to COVID restrictions, a private family graveside service will be held in
New Glasgow, Nova Scotia.
Grateful thanks to palliative care, extramural an d Dr Park for the excellent
care and compassion extended to our family.
