Obituary Overview

  

In Loving Memory

It is with huge sadness and heavy hearts the family of Phillip John LeBlanc,
age 57, announce his peaceful passing on Friday, November 13th 2020 in Nappan
NS. Michele, his wife, was holding his hand and he was surrounded by family he
loved so dearly with loved ones playing guitar, accompanying him on his
journey with Coco his kitten nearby.

  

Phil was one of three boys, born to Fidel and Violet LeBlanc (Alder)
Sackville, New Brunswick. In addition to his wife Michele, Phil will be
greatly missed by three children, who he considered his own; Stephanie Gould,
Amherst, Douglas (Chas) Maltby, Grande Prairie, Alberta and Matthew (Meagan)
Maltby, Nappan.

  

Phil's greatest joy in life was being "Papa" to six amazing grandchildren;
Randi & Justice Critchley - Amherst, Kiera Dryden - Moncton, Oriana and Asher
Maltby - Grande Prairie Alberta. They will treasure every memory.

  

Phil will be greatly missed by his father Fidel LeBlanc, brothers Ron Leblanc
and Eric (Yvonne) Leblanc of Oshawa Ontario in addition to numerous aunts,
uncles and special Aunt Rita. He will also be missed by his loving mother in
law Sharon Gould, many brother and sister in laws and all of his special
nieces and nephews.

  

As a child, Phil enjoyed teasing his brothers and of course as everyone knew,
eating, sleeping and breathing basketball. Phil often credited the Whitby Boys
and Girls Club, for helping discover his talent and love for the game. Phil
later attended McMaster University, studying business, where he continued to
play the game he loved. The numerous trophies, scrap books, photos and
newspaper articles his mother had proudly collected reflect his talent and her
pride. He took great joy in coaching his grandchildren and other youth at
Cumberland North Academy.

  

Following university, Phil ventured into retail management with Bi-Way Canada
as a District Manager. He later joined APM Construction where he worked for 14
years, managing the construction of Atlantic Superstores. Phil loved the
construction industry, helping to oversee numerous projects, specifically his
proudest builds were those of Mount Allison University's - Purdy Crawford
Centre for the Arts, the Halifax Public Library and Fox Creek Golf Course
clubhouse. Over many years, he developed close and lasting friendships with
the people of the trades. He later became passionate about antiques, owning
and operating McCully Market & Things in Amherst.

  

In 2000 he met Michele, making their home in Nappan, where Phil loved the
comfort of having family members only seconds up the road. Phil and Michele
enjoyed 20 plus years together, supporting one another through numerous health
concerns that has bonded them for life.

  

Phil was predeceased by his mother Violet LeBlanc (Alder), maternal
grandparents John & Jessie Alder, Anderson Settlement, NB, paternal
grandparents Robert and Edwina LeBlanc Cap Pele NB, father in law Stanley
Gould, Nappan NS.

  

Arrangements are entrusted to Campbell's Funeral Home, 98 Church Street,
Amherst, NS, with private family visitation on Monday November 16th, from
7-9pm. Public visitation will be held on Tuesday November 17th, from 3-5pm and
7-9pm.

  

A private Funeral mass will be held at Holy Family Catholic Church, officiated
by Father Charles Offor on Wednesday November 18th at 10am, and will be live

A reception will follow for immediate family and invited guests.

  

We ask that all COVID-19 guidelines including masks and physical distancing be
observed while attending the visitation and service.

  

Donations may be made in memory to the Society of St Vincent De Paul.
