Obit: MITTON, Sgt Glendon
MITTON, SERGEANT GLENDON - Sgt. Glendon Ross Mitton, 52, son of Margaret and Mervin Mitton, formerly of Apple River, NS and Penobsquis, NB, died peacefully on August 25, 2002 at the Drayton Valley Hospital, AB, with his beloved twin sister, Gwen, by his side. Glen served his country in the Royal Canadian Airforce. He loved his military life, enjoying all his postings across Canada and his travels beyond. Above all, he loved his work with Search and Rescue out of Summerside, PE. Glen was a loyal member of the Royal Canadian Legion, devoting countless hours to their work in each community of
which he became a part. He was a Scout Leader and Minor Hockey Coach throughout his years in the Airforce. Despite extensive radiation and chemotherapy treatments, Glen flew home to the Maritimes twice during his ravaging illness to attend the weddings of two nieces, the more recent wedding being just a month ago. Glen was predeceased by his wife. He will be greatly missed by his brother, Vince, Penobsquis, NB; sisters Gwen Hawkes, Ward's Creek, NB; Nancy Sulis, Belmont, NS; Doris Smith, Penobsquis, NB; Lynette Mitton, Corunna, ON; several nieces and nephews; and his companion
Marguerite Martin. There will be a memorial service at the Royal Canadian Legion, Drayton Valley Branch. Cremation has taken place. Memorial gifts may be made to any branch of the Royal Canadian Legion or to a charity of your choice. Open house for family and friends at 119 Penobsquis Loop Road, Monday, September 2, 2 p.m.
