SPENCE, Reta - 89, Apt. 4, Senior Citizen Complex, Elgin Street, Springhill, passed away Saturday, June 15, 2002, in Highland View Regional Hospital, Amherst. Born in Springhill, she was a daughter of the late Oliver and Mary Jane (Wilcox) Penny. She was an adherent of St. Andrew's Wesley United Church, Springhill and the Miller Corner Ladies Aid. She enjoyed knitting and her family. She is survived by daughters, Betty Storey, Orillia, Ont.; Beverly Dale, Fenwick, Cumberland Co.; Carol (Robert) Farrell, Springhill; Lois (Charles) Davison and Jocelyn (Allan) Horton, both of Halfway River, Cumberland Co.; sons, Kenneth "Bob" (Elaine), Amherst; Donald (Helen), Toronto, Ont.; Jack (Phyllis), Perth, Ont.; Brian (Jean), Fenwick, Cumberland Co.; David (Gail) and Larry (Mary), both of Bowmanville, Ont.; 37 grandchildren; 64 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Joseph Walter Spence; brothers, William, John and Cecil; sisters, Mary, Bertha, Beatrice and Irene; sons-in-law, Gervin, John and Sidney; granddaughter, Crystal Farrow. Visitation will be held 7-9 p.m. today and 2-4, 7-9, p.m. Tuesday in A.H. Brown Funeral Home, Springhill, where the funeral service will take place 2 p.m. Wednesday, June 19, Rev. Allan Griffin officiating. Burial in Hillside Cemetery, Springhill. Donations to Heart and Stroke Foundation of Nova Scotia would be appreciated.
