Re: HOEGs

Hello Don:

Abigail HOEG's parents were Joseph HOEG [1802-ca1885] & Elizabeth NELSON [1802-ca1885]. Her HOEG grandparents were Nathan HOEG b 1749 d 11 May 1820 & Abigail Mary MILLS. I read a note somewhere during the Yorkshire Gathering that this HOEG family was from YORKSHIRE, but I am not sure. My instincts tell me that the name is Dutch but then the William of Orange did end up on the throne of England.

I have not found the surname Nathaniel among my Cumberland County HOEGs but there are several Nathan HOEGs.

I can't say for certain whethere the Westchester County, NYers are the same HOEGs.

Subject: [nscumber] GILBERT, Clarence Bishop

Hi folks:

I am looking for information on Clarence Bishop Gilbert, b July 1870 in New Canaan, Cumberland, NS to Abigail HOEG & John GILBERT, Jr. Clarence's father was 58 when C was born and, along with my ggrandmother was the product of John GILBERT's second marriage.

I heard [somewhere] that Clarence had inherited his father's farm in [New] Canaan and lived there, unmarried until he died in 1935. Frankly, I don't know. Does anyone have anything on Clarence?

Thanks,
Eric Keys
