Obit: WASSON, Ralph K

WASSON, Ralph K - 81, Whitehall Road, Parrsboro, died Tuesday, May 28, 2002, in Colchester Regional Hospital, Truro. Born in Hopewell Cape, N.B., he was a son of the late Capt. Walter and Marion (Keenie) Wasson. He was a veteran of the Second World War serving with the Merchant Marine. He spent most of his life on the water serving as chief engineer for the Hudson Bay Company and Upper Lakes Shipping. Following his retirement, he was employed with Department of National Defense in Debert for seven years and did contract work for Irving. He was a member of Trinity United Church, past member of session and served with the choir for many years. He was a past member of the Oddfellows. He is survived by his wife of 58 years, the former Marion Fletcher; daughters, Helen Wasson, Windsor; Mary Lou O'Brien and her husband Basil, Clinton, Ont.; Elizabeth Wasson, Mitchell, Ont.; Jocelyn Taylor, tratford, Ont.; Cindy Tupper and her husband Michael, Parrsboro; Donna Little and her husband William, Truro; sons, Bruce and his wife Edith, Redding, Calif.; Ralph "Jr." and his wife Martine, Napanee, Ont.; 22 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by sister, Madeline; brother, Arthur. isitation will be 7-9 p.m. today in Smith's Funeral Home, Parrsboro. Funeral service will be held 2 p.m Thursday in Trinity United Church, Parrsboro, Rev. James Bushell officiating. Burial in the church cemetery. Family flowers only. Memorial donations may be made to Trinity United Church Memorial Fund or Kidney Foundation of Canada, Nova Scotia Branch.
