employed by Malagash Salt Co. for over 30 years at Malagash and later
at Pugwash.

Oxford Kiwanis Club held its 5th anniversary Charter Night at
Collingwood Hall on May 27. President Harry CHASE presided and Rev.
Harry ROCKHAM of Fairview was guest speaker.
Three truss beams collapsed at the Springhill Forum, badly damaging the
building.
Died at Westchester on May 21, Mrs. Edgar RUSHTON, age 76.
Died at Rodney on May 18, Mrs. Elmer AUSTIN, age 48.

Thursday, May 28, 1942
Introduction of tea and coffee rationing and reduction by one-third in
the existing sugar ration was announced by Donald GORDON, chairman of
the Wartime Prices and Trade Board. The sugar ration will be one-half
pound per person per week.
Miss Marjorie HICKMAN, elder daughter of Mr. and Mrs. R.R. HICKMAN, was
awarded the degree of Bachelor of Arts at Acadia University on May 26.
An Anson training bomber, based at Charlottetown, P.E.I., made a forced
landing at Roslin on May 26, due to fog conditions and scarcity of gas.
Died at Mt. Pleasant on May 21, Mrs. Emiline MATTINSON, age 98.

Ira P. MCNAB of Wallace has been appointed a member of the Nova Scotia
board of Public Utilities.
The McColl-Frontenac Service Station below Black River bridge, which is
operated by Mark GILLIS, was burglarized on Monday night.
Constable CASSIDY of the RCMP, with Mrs. Cassidy and family, have
removed from Oxford to Pugwash. There will be no RCMP stationed in
Oxford.
Died - At Toronto on May 26, Joseph Howe EATON, age 83, a native of
Pugwash Jct. He was formerly a well-known shipbuilder and before
removing to Ontario, operated the store at Pugwash Jct. now conducted by
Mr. Harold WOOD.
Died at Little River on May 29, Hiram JOHNSON, age 86, after being
struck by a car near his home.
