Obit: GILROY, William "Tony"

GILROY, William "Tony" - 52, 163 Stanley Rd., Amherst, passed away Monday, May 20, 2002, in Highland View Regional Hospital, Amherst. Born in Amherst, he was a son of Mrs. Janette (Simmonds) Gilroy and the late Raymond Gilroy. He worked at Tingley Monuments as a stone polisher and installer. He was a member of the Chignecto Gun Club. He is survived by his wife, the former Janice Ann Moore; daughter, Laura (Jerry Metz), Halifax; sons, Billy (Jamie), Edmonton; Raymond, at home; brothers, Alan (Sandy), Sackville, N.B.; Roy (Lynne), Amherst; Peter (Carrie), Amherst; sisters, Karen (Barry) Ackles, Grand Prairie; Janet (Denis) Mitchell, Amherst; five grandchildren. He was predeceased by his father and sister, Ann. Cremation has taken place under the direction of MacDiarmid's Funeral Home, Oxford. Visitation will be 10 a.m. Thursday until time of funeral service at 11 a.m. in Immanuel United Church, Hickman Street, Amherst, Rev. Danny Compton officiating. Donations to Canadian Cancer Society would be appreciated.
