BADDECK - One person was killed and another seriously injured early
Wednesday morning, when a car veered off the highway and went over a 90
foot cliff on Kelly's Mountain, near Baddeck. Dead is Edwin EMBREE, 19,
of Oxford. In serious condition with multiple injuries, is Frank BOYD
of Lower Onslow. BOYD, 21 was taken to Victoria County Memorial
Hospital in Baddeck, and later transferred to Victoria General Hospital,
Halifax. RCMP in Baddeck said the accident happened at the spot on No.
5 Highway, known as Bras d'Or Lookoff. The car snapped off 3 guard
rails and tumbled over the 90 foot cliff, landing on its roof. The two
occupants were thrown from the car, which was a total wreck. Edwin
EMBREE was born in South Oxford 19 years ago, and lived his entire life
in that area. He was a son of Mr. and Mrs. Ralph EMBREE, of South
Oxford, and is survived by one brother at home. Funeral arrangements
