I also have McPherson's who moved to Cumberland Co about 1890 from Thorburn.
I'm wondering if any of the below would ring a bell with you.
James McPherson b 1847 Albion Mines married Catherine McLeod b 1853 Nova
Scotia on the 28th Dec 1871 at Westville, Pictou.
Their children were (all born at Thorburn except the last one):
Ellen McPherson b 30 Jan 1874
Jessie McLeod McPherson b 1876
Christie Ann McPherson b 1878
Mary McLeod McPherson b 25 Aug 1880; d 31 Dec 1964 Maple Ridge BC (my gr
mother)
William John McPherson b 23 May 1883
John Thomas McPherson b 5 Jun 1887
Elizabeth McPherson b 18 Jan 1889
Thomas McPherson b 6 Mar 1891 Cumberland County
Catherine's parents were Angus McLeod, miner, b Scotland and Jessie ?????, b
Scotland
James' parents were Donald McPherson, b approx 1800 Scotland; d 13 May 1870
Albion Mines and Ellen ????, b Scotland and their parents were John
McPherson and Ellen ????? both born Scotland.
James McPherson had at least 2 siblings. They were Daniel and William who
also show up on the 1881 McLennan's Mtn census with their families.
If you have any information you could supply about these families that would
help me
research them further would be greatly appreciated. Because of
the lack of vital statistics in Nova Scotia around this time and my
inability to track down info via church records, I have come to a brick
wall.
