A building on Oxford's Main Street next to the town office and RCMP,
formerly known as Harry's Restaurant, and latterly owned by Doug
MACDIARMID, is being removed to make room for a parking lot.

Thursday, May 11, 1972
The Cobequid-Yorkshire Historical Society Museum building is nearing
completion and work under the Local Initiative Program will be finished
May 21. It may take an additional two or three weeks to have all the
items documented and displayed. Opening date is tentatively set for
June 26.
Died - Mrs. Lawrence WOOD, Hansford, at All Saints Hospital, Springhill,
April 21 after a lengthy illness.
Died - Miss Evelyn J. SMITH, Pugwash, age 67, at Pugwash on April 26.

Thursday, May 10, 1962
The first boat to load at Pugwash in 1962 sailed this morning with a
half cargo of pulpwood, loaded by Ted TREMLAY.
RCMP are investigating damage to 600 lobster traps owned by J.R. ALLEN,
Pugwash. While stacked on the wharf the traps were slashed. A boat
loaded with traps, owned by Lorne ACKLES, Northport, sank early Tuesday.
At the meeting of Pine Grove Cemetery lotholders on May 8, it was
decided to erect a receiving vault.

As interested citizens and school children looked on, Mayor O.E. HUNTER
turned the first sod on the site of Oxford's new Regional High School on
May 1.
Tatamagouche citizens have organized a polio fund to assist Tatamagouche
families who were victims of the recent epidemic.
Davis and Swan Ltd. has opened a new dry goods and ladies' clothing
store in the K of P building, Oxford.
Died at Truro on May 4, Pearl Merton LOWTHER, age 60, a native of Oxford
and retired CNR employee.
Died at South Oxford on April 24, William Leonard MILLER, age 67,
life-long resident of Oxford, for 32 years, fireman at Oxford Furniture
co., and with Rowack Furniture Co. for two years.
Died at Oxford on May 1, Hubert THOMPSON, age 80.

The entertainment sponsored by the Y.P.U. of Trinity United Church,
Oxford on May 1, was a great success, and was under the direction of
Mrs. A.S. ROGERS and Mrs. Reg HILLS.
The congregation of St. Andrews and Wesley Churches, Springhill,
combined services on Sunday, May 4, to celebrate the 79th anniversary of
the first Methodist Church in Springhill.
Died at South Pugwash on April 28, Mrs. Charles WEATHERBEE, age 59.
Died at Northport on April 27, Mrs. Eliza BROWNELL, age 79.
