Obit: HUNTER, Harry Withrow
HUNTER, Harry Withrow - 82, 29 Rupert St., Amherst, passed away Saturday, April 13, 2002. Born in Springhill, he was a son of the late Joseph and Myrtle (McCarthy) Hunter. He served overseas in Italy, North Africa and Holland with the Royal Canadian Engineers, 1st Field Company during the Second World War. As a commercial traveler he traveled throughout Atlantic Canada. He was a former sales manager for Nova Mobile Homes in Dartmouth until he retired due to ill health in the mid 70s. He was a member of Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 10 , Amherst and Alexandra Lodge 87, Masonic Order in Amherst. He was a former member of the Amherst Lions Club and RCAF Association 105, Cumberland Wing. He is survived by his wife, the former Annie Mae Wilson; daughter, Linda Cooper (Nath), Amherst; sister, Pearl Casey, Springhill; grandson, Andrew Clarke (Jennifer); great-grandsons, James and Ben, Advocate Harbour. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his first wife, the former Hilda Ward; sister, Lucy Terris; brothers, Wesley, Wylie, Bernie, Charles, Garnet. His remains are resting in Furlongs Funeral Home, Amherst, with visiting hours today 2- 4, 7-9 p.m. The legion will hold a service in the funeral home this evening at 7 p.m. The funeral service will be held in Cumberland Memorial Chapel, Amherst, 2 p.m. Tuesday, Rev. Donnie Miller officiating. Burial will be in Amherst Cemetery later in the spring. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Nova Scotia, Canadian Diabetes Association or a charity of your choice.
