Highland View Regional Hospital.

CARTER, 76, of East Leicester.

Died in Moncton, Rev. Millard K. CHARMAN, a native of Wallace on April
17 at the age of 91.

A $100,000 fire at Bonnyman and Byers Ltd., Tatamagouche, completely
destroyed the sawmill early Saturday Morning May 1. No damage was
caused to a separate section of the mill containing a planer and a resaw
mill.

Mr. Elmon WHALEN, Oxford Junction, was honored on his retirement from
the CNR at the Oxford Junction Community Hall on April 30.

Charles SARSON, Springhill, a native of Pugwash, has been appointed
Registrar of Deeds for Cumberland County.

Died at Truro on April 25, Fred H. BROWN, 83, of East Wentworth.

Died at Pugwash on April 22, Illa Halley MCARTHUR, formerly of River
Philip.

John GREW, son of Mr. and Mrs. David V. GREW of Oxford, recently gave
his Bachelor of Music recital at Beethoven Hall, Mt. Allison University.

The home of Mr. and Mrs. Leo PURDY, Williamsdale, was destroyed by fire
on April 29.

Wildcats have killed several deer at Appleton. Russell LYNDS and his
hounds have captured 18 wildcats.

Died at Amherst on April 18, Mrs. Winnifred Mae COLE, 71, a native of
Linden.

Died at Springhill on April 13, Mrs. Mosey MURRAY, 71, of Pugwash River.

The 80-year-old home of Miss Olive MCKIM of Wallace Bay was destroyed by
fire on May 2.

Mr. Stan HARVIE, who has been accountant at the Oxford Bank of Nova
Scotia for five years, has been transferred to Hantsport. He will be
succeeded by W. Larry CARSON, now of Digby.

Layton CARD of the Edson Electric Light Company, Oxford, was in Pugwash
and Conns Mills in May getting contracts signed for electric lights.
Some homes are being wired.

At a special meeting of the Oxford Volunteer Fire Dept. on May 2, Elisha
MILLER was elected chief.

Died at Wallace Bay South on April 27, Mrs. James SIMPSON, age 55.

Died at Oxford on May 3, Gladys Ann MACINTOSH, daughter of Mr. and Mrs.
Fred MacIntosh, Oxford, age 19.

Died at Oxford on May 7, Frank EASTMAN of Oxford.

An oil jitney has replaced the regular passenger and mail steam train on
the Short Line.

Elwood MACLEAN suffered a broken leg when struck by a truck near
Springhill on Saturday.

Oxford Oddfellows and Rebekahs celebrated the 112th anniversary of the
founding of their order by attending a special service in Trinity United
Church, Sunday, when Rev. C.H. WRIGHT of Springhill was the speaker.

Died at Claremont on April 27, Mrs. Wylie DICKSON, age 60.

Died at Springhill on May 2, Angus MCPHERSON, age 33, a native of Conn
Mills.
