Obituary for Gladys (MACCORMACK) MCLELLAN

Oxford - Mrs. Gladys Anne MCLELLAN, 40, of Oxford, died Wednesday in All
Saints Hospital, Springhill, September 22, 1982. Born in Springhill,
she was the former Gladys Anne MACCORMACK, a daughter of Vernon and
Doris (MCNULTY) MACCORMACK.
She was a graduate of Oxford Regional High School, class of 1959, was
the class valedictorian and received her B.A. from Mount Allison
University in 1963 and her B. Ed. in 1964. She worked in various
Cumberland County schools over the past 18 years and was a former
director of guidance for the Pugwash sub-system. At the time of her
death she was the principal of the Oxford Elementary School. She was
active provincially in elementary guidance and worked on the Department
of Education's task force in the Oxford area in 1976-77.
She was a past-president of Cumberland Mental Health Centre Board of
Directors, and a member of the Nova Scotia School Counsellor Association
and the Nova Scotia School Administrators Association. In 1978 she
received the Canadian Merit Award. She was a member ot the Oxford
United Baptist Church.
Surviving besides her parents in Oxford, are her husband, Gerald D.;
twin daughters, Kelly and Kerry, both at home; a sister Lynn (Janusas)
(Mrs. Roy PELTON), Dartmouth; maternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Roland
MCNULTY, Collingwood; and several nieces and nephews.
The body was at Allen Funeral Home, Oxford. Funeral was held at 2 p.m.
Saturday in Oxford United Baptist Church, Rev. Dewis Rector officiating,
with burial in Oxford Pine Grove Cemetery. (From clippings from the
