Obit: SMITH, Cecil Walter



SMITH, Cecil Walter - 90, of 140 West Victoria St., Amherst, died peacefully on Thursday, January 11, 2001, at home surrounded by his family. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and friend. Born in Shinamicas, N.S., he was a son of the late Hubert and Edith (Greeno) Smith. In his younger years, he worked as a woodsman and a farmer and then was employed by Robb Engineering and later Brookfield Dairies for 26 years. He retired from K.P. Allen Ltd., Amherst in 1977. He was a member of First Baptist Church, Amherst, where through the years served on many boards, including the Board of Deacons and Board of Management as well as other committees. He is survived by his
wife of sixty years, the former Frances Hastings; daughter, Carole Smith, Dartmouth; son, Greg, Amherst; grandchildren, Mark and Marlo Smith, Halifax; Michelle Smith, Quispamsis, N.B.; daughter-in-law, Jean Smith, Quispamsis, N.B.; brother, Don Smith (Jewel), Amherst; several cousins, nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by son, Wayne and sister, Florence Everill. His remains are resting at Campbell's Funeral Home, 98 Church St., Amherst, with visitation today from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Funeral service will be held on Sunday, at 2 p.m., from First Baptist Church, Amherst, with Rev. Byron Corkum officiating. Burial will take place in the spring in the Amherst Cemetery. Family flowers
