Obit: Roderick Malcolm MacDONALD

MacDONALD, Roderick Malcolm - 69, Port Phillip, Cumberland Co., passed away May 13, 2000, in the North Cumberland Memorial Hospital, Pugwash. Born in Bayhead, he was a son of the late Archie and Pearl (Pipes) MacDonald. Rod has a vast employment history. He worked the family farm for many years in Bayhead and drove a school bus for the children in the Bayhead-Malagash area for several years. He had been employed with the Canadian Salt Company in Pugwash for a total of 11 years and worked as a member of the grounds keeping crew at both the Northumberland Golf and Country Club, Pugwash and the Sunrise Golf Club, Brule. Rod loved the outdoors, especially his hunting and fishing and usually had a good joke or story to tell. He will be remembered as a loving husband, father, brother and grandfather. Surviving are his wife, the former Hulda Smith; daughters, Laurie and
husband Allen Treen, Bayhead; Katherine and husband Art Bennett, Bayhead; Twilah and husband George Purdy, Malagash; sons, Eden and wife Marilyn, Bayhead; Jeffrey and wife Carolyn, Tatamagouche; Marcas and companion Norma, British Columbia; Fraser and wife Sue, Ontario; grandchildren, Shannon, Elizabeth, Adele and husband Randy, Matthew and wife Vanessa, Keelie, Taylor, Theodore, Jake, Sam, Walter, Daniel; great-grandchildren, Kerri and Sara; sisters, Mary and husband Donn Mattinson, Riverview; Elva and husband Roy Black, Riverview; brother, Stewart and
wife Isobel, Ottawa; aunt, Florence Brownell, Hantsport; many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by is first wife, Ellen; brother, Ken. Visitation 2-4, 7-9 p.m. today, funeral service 2 p.m. Tuesday, both in Mundle's Funeral Home, Pugwash, Rev. Janet Travers officiating. Burial in Monument Hill Cemetery, Richmond. Family flowers only. Donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Nova Scotia or any charity.
