I have Abbie m/1 Laverne Mae Porter from Springhill. Laverne may possibly be the mother of Shelley Mae Dowe and Wesley Dowe.

Linda L. Amon was m/1 Charles B.W. Allen, gs/o Earl Ansel Allen and Nellie Maude Parker of Port Greville. Charles died 1994 in Parrsboro.

DOWE, Albert Lauraway "Abbie" - 60, Brookdale, died December 19, 1999, in the Highland View Regional Hospital, Amherst, following a lengthy illness. Born in Springhill, he was a son of Mrs. Amy (Laurie) Dowe, Springhill, and the late Albert Dowe. He served with the Royal Canadian Regiment, Black Watch for 27 years until his retirement from the Armed Forces in 1986. Following his return home he has owned and managed several rental properties in Amherst. He formerly owned and operated several local businesses. Surviving are his wife, Linda Amon; daughter, Shelley Mae, Amherst; son, Wesley, Victoria, B.C.; stepdaughter, Valerie; stepson, Charles, at home; sisters, Sandra Logan, Amherst; Bonnie Rieheshl, Veronica Dowe, Springhill; Marlene Dowe, Vermont, N.H.; brothers, Danny, Corey, Judson, Ontario; Larry, Jackie, Amherst; Elroy, Five Islands; Keith, Perry, Springhill. He was predeceased by sister, Heather Damery. Visitation 2-4, 7-9 p.m. today, in Furlong's Funeral Home, Amherst. Funeral 2 p.m. Wednesday, in Cumberland Memorial Chapel, Amherst, Rev. Donnie Miller officiating. Burial in Amherst Cemetery. Donations to Canadian Cancer Society or any charity.

Saturday, June 29, a pretty wedding was solemnized at the Wesley United Manse in Springhill, when Rev. R.J. Miller united in marriage, Laverne May, eldest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Donald Porter of Springhill and Albert Samuel, eldest son of Mr. and Mrs. Albert Dow, formerly of Springhill Junction but now residing in Thamesville, Ont.

Groom was stationed in Beaverbank, N.S. with the R.C.A.F. Bride will remain in Springhill for the present.

ALLEN, Charles B.W. - 34, Yorke Settlement, Cumberland County, died September 26, 1994, in South Cumberland Memorial Hospital, Parrsboro. Born at Long Hill, Cumberland County, he was a son of Kenneth Allen, Victoria, B.C. and the late Eva (Stewart) Allen. He was a carpenter and forestry worker prior to his illness.
