DOWE, Albert Lauraway "Abbie" - 60, Brookdale, died December 19,
1999, in the Highland View Regional Hospital, Amherst, following
a lengthy illness. Born in Springhill, he was a son of Mrs. Amy
(Laurie) Dowe, Springhill, and the late Albert Dowe. He served
with the Royal Canadian Regiment, Black Watch for 27 years until
his retirement from the Armed Forces in 1986. Following his
return home he has owned and managed several rental properties in
Amherst. He formerly owned and operated several local businesses.
Surviving are his wife, Linda Amon; daughter, Shelley Mae,
Amherst; son, Wesley, Victoria, B.C.; stepdaughter, Valerie;
stepson, Charles, at home; sisters, Sandra Logan, Amherst; Bonnie
Rieheshl, Veronica Dowe, Springhill; Marlene Dowe, Vermont, N.H.;
brothers, Danny, Corey, Judson, Ontario; Larry, Jackie, Amherst;
Elroy, Five Islands; Keith, Perry, Springhill. He was predeceased
by sister, Heather Damery. Visitation 2-4, 7-9 p.m. today, in
Furlong's Funeral Home, Amherst. Funeral 2 p.m. Wednesday,
in Cumberland Memorial Chapel, Amherst, Rev. Donnie Miller
officiating. Burial in Amherst Cemetery. Donations to Canadian
Cancer Society or any charity.
