Re: Researching ALLEN family of Parrsboro Shore

Thanks Read for the info.  I had 7 children of John Allen (eldest son of Miner and Mary Elitia Allen) and Alfred would be the youngest with birth in 1840.  The others I have are Rosamond Allen [1829-1924], Henry Allen [1832-1914], David Allen [1834-1902], Miner Allen [circa 1834- ], Jane "Jennie" Allen [circa 1836 - ], Rebecca Allen [circa 1836 - ], Rachel Allen [circa 1838 - ] and now Alfred Allen. I have recorded John Allen's wife as Mary Loomer [4 Oct 1809 - 1888], not Anna that you stated. She is buried in Chebeauge Island, Maine.  Does this square with your information?  Can you help with any more details of this family? Do you have more detail on John Allen.  I only have a birth year of 1796.

Alfred ( May 27, 1840 - Feb. 21 1889) was the son of Miner's son John Allen and and Anna Loomer.  They lived on Allen Hill on part of what was the Land Grant of Miner Allen.  He and Hannah are buried in the Allenville cemetery. .   He is my g grandfather not my 2g grandfather as stated in my previous post.

I do not have an Alfred Allen in my tree.  Can you help out with finding that linkage to Miner Allen, so I can see where our lines connect.  We may be cousins.

I am also looking for Hannah's parents.   I don't think she in Miner's daughter or sister, but suspect they may be related.
 
Miner's genealogy appears in "Historic Homes and Places and Genealogical and Personal Memoirs relating to the families of Middlesex County, Massachusetts"  by William Richard Cutter published in 1905  His parents are shown as Jonathan Allen and Ann Miner and his grandparents as Jonathan Allen and Elizabeth Hulling.. Miner is shown as having only a brother Timothy and no daughter Hannah..  I have seen some suggestion that Cutter got it wrong about Miner's parents.  Miners father was known in Nova Scotia as John Allen and not Jonathan Allen.and I am not aware of any other information showing a son Jonathan for Jonathan ad Elizabeth (Hulling) Allen. They did have a son John Allen, but he died in 1772.in Rhode Island.
 
A possible Parent for Hannah might be from the family of Jonathan (husband of Elizabeth Hulling) Allen's Brother Thomas Allen who married  Anna Corey.  Their grandson Thomas Allen married Desire Card and lived in Newport area in NS.   I believe there is a book at the NS Archives "Sun Bright and Well Beloved"  which covers some of this family.  I will try to get in and have a look at it.
 
Yes the two families did intersect,  My 2G grandparents were  Alfred Allen ( grandson of Miner Allen & Mary Elitia Delesdernier) and Hannah Vickery (granddaughter of Jonathan Vickery and Hannah Allen).

Hi Karl,

Wow that was a fast response.  Unfortunately I don't know Hannah's parentage, just starting to look at the Allen family possibilities in the Parrsboro or Hants area so any hints would be welcome.  I don't think Miner could be Hannah's father because of the ages.
I just noticed I have the marriage date wrong for Jonathan and Hannah on my website.  It should be 1795.
