Shirley Jean Brown
1935-2017

It is with deep sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Shirley
Jean Brown, age 81, of Joggins. Shirley passed away peacefully at her home
surrounded by her loving and supportive family after a lengthy illness.

Born in Lower Cove, NS, she was a daughter of the late William and Roseanna
(Legere) Brown.

Affectionately called Petsy by her friends and family, Shirley enjoyed
knitting and quilting and loved to host family gatherings. She was well
known for her pet rock that she brought from New Brunswick years ago and
always had near by for everyone to admire. Shirley was a humble lady who
worked hard at home and at her job with Northern Telecom. Family came first
for her. No one ever went hungry or cold, she was a wonderful mother, and a
true provider.

She will be dearly missed by her children Margaret (Laurie) Melanson,
Joggins, Linda Boyd, Amherst, NS, Patrick Brine (Sheila), Springhill, NS,
Kathy (Tom) Stewart, New Glasgow, NS, Wade (Brenda Kemsley) Brine, Maccan,
NS, Darrah (Helen) Brine, Joggins, Jeremy Brine, Lower Cove, NS; several
grandchildren and great grandchildren; brothers, Clifford and Donald (Laura)
Brown; sisters-in-law, Katherine Brown and Beulah Brown; brother-in-law,
Edward Palmer, and many nieces and nephews.

Besides her parents, she was predeceased by brothers Austin, Earl and Robert
(Kenetta); sisters, Edith (Aubrey) and Violet, and a sister-in-law, Annette.

Arrangements are under the care and guidance of Furlong~Jones Funeral Home,
Main Street, River Hebert (902-251-2877) where a private family visitation
will be held prior to cremation taking place. Funeral Mass will be

will take place beside her parents at a later date.
