Arthur Fredrick White B.Sc. (C.E.) ­ Civil Engineer

July 8, 1928 ­ April 13, 2017


Arthur Fredrick White, a Civil Engineer passed away April 13th, 2017, in
Amherst N.S. He had a full, and accomplished life living, working and
traveling around the world with his wife and 2 daughters.

He was a wonderful husband, father and beautiful friend. He was also a very
talented gardener, photographer and painter.

He is survived by, his wife Cairine Mitchell (Fillmore) White, daughter
Alicia Mairi MacIntyre, and daughter Sarah Fillmore (White) Myers. He also
has 3 grandchildren Ashley Elizabeth Wright, Daniel Joseph Myers, and
Tristan James Fredrick Myers. As well as three close cousins of the
White/Hayes families who he loved dearly.

He was born July 8, 1928 in Petitcodiac NB to his parents Ella Olivia
(Hayes) White, and William White and was loved dearly.

In his early twenties he began working in the theatre business as a
projectionist, in Petitcodiac, and Campbellton NB, and Charlottetown PEI. In
1951 he became a Lab Technician at a large Pulp Mill, in Atholville NB. It
was here that some friends convinced Arthur to go to university at the age
of 26.

In 1953 he entered the Chemical Engineering program at University of New
Brunswick, but later changed his major to Civil Engineering and graduated
with a Bachelor of Science in 1959. After he graduated he joined Montreal
Engineering and worked in Montreal and in the power industry in Northern
Quebec, and Wabamun Alberta.

Arthur with his wife and young daughter Alicia Mairi moved to Pakistan,
where he worked as the Columbo Plan Advisor on the Lower Indus Basin
Canadian Hoosier Project from 1964 to 1966. There were many challenges
during their time in Pakistan one being a small war between India and
Pakistan, which resulted in his wife Cairine and daughter Alicia being
evacuated out of the country and back to Canada while Arthur remained
behind to finish his contract.

On completion of his foreign assignment he joined N.S. Power from 1966 to
1969, and then requested to join the Churchill Falls Power Project, and was
in charge of the transmission power lines as the Chief Engineer from 1969 to
1970 and following that project he continued in Churchill Falls as the Town
Site Manager.

After the birth of their second child Sarah in 1971, the family moved to
West Haverstraw, New York, until 1973, followed by a move to Pittsburg PA,
and where he joined Westinghouse International. Then with wife, daughter
Alicia, and new baby Sarah moved to Wakasa-Wada, Japan to work on Ohi
Nuclear Project with Westinghouse Nuclear International until Feb 12, 1978.
During his time in Japan he became a Mason.

In 1978 Arthur with family in tow moved to the Nuclear Project in Bataan,
Philippines, with Westinghouse Nuclear International until 1981, where he
work as Assistant Site Engineer. During this time he became a member of
Cavite Commandery Knights Templar Shrine, and made many life long friends.

In 1984 Arthur and his family moved back to the Paramus New Jersey Site, and
lived in Oakland NJ while still working as the Project Engineering Manager
for the Philippines Project until its completion.

In 1985 the family made there final move and returned to Canada to run a
small family business.

Arthur was a loving husband and doting father that took us on many wonderful
adventures around the world. We as a family visited many countries in Asia
and throughout Europe and literally circumnavigated the globe 7 times
enjoying every minute of our adventures. He was brilliant and loving man,
and we will miss him dearly.

There will be no visitation or funeral service.
