Obituary: LaPierre, Arthur Maurice
It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Arthur Maurice
LaPierre of Porters Lake, formerly of Grand Desert, in Twin Oaks Memorial
Hospital on October 10, 2013. He was a son of Laura (Bellefontaine)
LaPierre, of Grand Desert and the late Arthur LaPierre. Art was employed
with the Provincial Tax Commission, Province of Nova Scotia, for 27 years.
He then transferred to Revenue Canada until his retirement in 1997. Art will
be fondly remembered by family and friends for his sense of humour, love of
hunting, fishing, four-wheeling, and all outdoor activities. He was a
Bluegrass and Country Music enthusiast, and his favourite country artist was
George Jones. He also enjoyed dancing, cards, and car racing. Besides his
mother, Laura LaPierre, Art is survived by his son, Jason Arthur LaPierre,
Edmonton, Alta.; his companion and caregiver, Bernadette (Canning) LaPierre,
Porters Lake; sisters, Yvonne Murphy, West Chezzetcook and Evelyn (Gordon)
Muise, Tusket, Yarmouth Co.; brothers, Fred (Jo-Ann), West Chezzetcook and
Allan (Claudia) LaPierre, Grand Desert, and many nieces, nephews, and
friends. Besides his father, Arthur LaPierre, Art was predeceased by his
oldest brother, Sidney, and brother-in-law, John Noel Murphy; several uncles
and aunts. Art requested no visitation. Cremation has taken place. Funeral
arrangements have been entrusted to Rowlings Funeral Home. Mass of Christian
Burial will take place October 17 at 11 a.m. in St. Anselm's Church, West
Chezzetcook, Rev. Okafur officiating. Reception to follow in the parish
hall. In lieu of flowers, donations in Art's memory would be appreciated by
Marine Communities Food Bank in Chezzetcook or the charity of your choice.
The family wishes to thank the nurses and all staff of Twin Oaks Memorial
Hospital for their kindness, caring, and support.
