David Fraser
David William Scott Fraser, age 50, of Westville, passed away Monday, August 4, 2014 in the Aberdeen Hospital, New Glasgow with his family by his side.
Born in West River Station, December 3, 1963, he is a son of Margie (Hoegg) Fraser, West River Station and the late Bert Fraser.
David received his machinist trade at Pictou Co. Vocational School. He later took up the interest of carpentry, working in Ontario for several years. While working there he took a crew to Europe to build Canadian style homes. He returned to Nova Scotia to start his own business D.W. Fraser Construction, and most recently worked at Rainbow Lake, Alberta.
He will be sadly missed by his mother Margie; his beloved wife Kathy MacNaughton; step-children, Lindsay Fanning (Scott); Nathan Hale (Karley Deagle); his pride and joy, grandchildren: Brody and Ella Fanning and Mylie and Connor Hale; sisters and brothers: Barb Hennigar (Bill), Rob Fraser, Rosalie Lavoie (Serge), Cathy Lewis (Jack), John Fraser (Kelly), Glen Fraser (Kim), Eldred Fraser (Lori), and Derek Fraser (Helen); friend and mentor John Seaman; special niece and nephew Laura and Dan Lavoie; father-in-law Lew MacNaughton; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Lou Anne MacNaughton, Carol MacLean (Doug), Robbie MacNaughton (Bonnie Scott), Wendy MacLean (Billy), Judy DeCoste (Joe), Kelly MacNaughton (Mike Wilson), Mike MacNaughton (Marlene), and Bill Chaulker; and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
David was predeceased by his father Bert; mother-in-law Joyce MacNaughton; and sister-in-law Lynn Chaulker.
David is resting at Eagles Funeral Home, Westville with visiting on Wednesday from 7-9 p.m. and Thursday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. His funeral service will be held 3 p.m. Friday from St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church, Gairloch with Bonnie Langille and Rev. Charles McPherson officiating. Cremation will follow.
Family flowers only. Donations in his memory may be made to the Aberdeen Palliative Care Society or the Lodge that Gives, Halifax.

Stellarton- Crescent Gerald (Irish) BRENNAN, 46 Belmont Ave., died early today in Camp Hill Hospital. He was born in North Bay, 52 years ago, a son of the late Michael James and Kathleen Ann (Valliquette) Brennan. Mr. Brennan was an employee of the Nova Scotia Power Commision for some 25 years and had served with the RCAF during the war years with several years service overseas. He was instructor with 374 Air Cadet Squadron and was vice- president of Northumberland Wing 110 of the RCAF Association and a member of the Stellar Curling Club. Surviving are his wife, the former Rebecca (Bess) Hoegg, Stellarton; one daughter, Adele (Mrs. James Johnson), CFB Greenwood; and one grandchild. Also surviving are three sisters, Kathleen (Mrs. Borden Genge); Bunny (Mrs. Eric Serff); Nonie (Mrs. Robert Webster) and a brother Leo, all of North Bay. He was also predeceased by a sister Frances (Mrs. Michael O'Shea) The remains will rest at the H.C. MacQuarrie Funeral Home after 2 pm Wednesday.

Betty Hoegg 1923-2013
Hoegg, Betty Myra Beryl (Dunlop) R.N., 89, of Stellarton, passed away
peacefully? on January 2, 2013, in the Aberdeen Hospital, surrounded by her
loved ones.? Born on February 19, 1923 at Head of St. Margaret’s Bay, she
was the third child of the late Harold Alexander Dunlop and Beryl Lapham
(Fader) Dunlop.? Betty lived her teen-age years in Amherst, graduating from
Amherst Academy in 1941.? In 1945, she became a proud graduate of the
Aberdeen Hospital School of Nursing, New Glasgow.? While in training, she
met her husband-to-be, Robert E. Hoegg and they were married in 1945.? As
founding members of the Belmont Housing Co-op, Betty and Bob built their own
home in Stellarton, where she lived from 1947 until 2005, the last of the
original co-op group to still be living there.? Betty was an active member
of Christ Anglican Church, and the Aberdeen Hospital Alumnae Association and
Auxiliary.? She was a Life Member of the Progressive Conservative Party of
Nova Scotia.? Until just past her 89th birthday, she brought her sunny
personality to the YMCA where she shared in the camaraderie of the special
group of Early Bird swimmers.? A crackerjack bridge player, competitive
Scrabble player, and avid gardener, with indomitable spirit she loved life
and was game for any adventure.? Betty was predeceased by her husband,
Robert, in 1995;? daughter, Nancy Jeanette, in 2003;? and by her siblings
Dawson, Audrey, and Raymond Dunlop.? She will be missed by her daughters and

HOEGG, Nancy Jeanette - 46, Halifax, formerly of Stellarton, and
Charlottetown, P.E.I., died peacefully in Halifax March 12, 2003. She was
predeceased by her father, Robert in 1995. She is survived by her loving
mother, Betty (Dunlop) Hoegg, Stellarton; sisters, Judith (Peter Ryan),
Halifax; Lois (Ches Crosbie), St. John's, NL; nieces, Ariana Ryan,
Charlotte, Catherine and Rachel Crosbie; a loving, extended family and a
wide circle of good friends. She will be particularly missed by her aunt,
Hilda Hoegg, Halifax. Nancy lived a full and vital life until becoming ill
at Christmas. She lived her last days with optimism and grace. A graduate of
Mount Saint Vincent University (BBA 1979) and Dalhousie (MPA 1981), Nancy
had a long career with the Government of Canada in Halifax, Moncton and
Charlottetown, having recently returned to Halifax to work with Health
Canada. Nancy was always active in various associations and her church in
the community where she was living. Visitation will be held in H.C.
MacQuarrie Funeral Home, Stellarton, today from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. The funeral
and celebration of Nancy's life will be held Sunday, March 16, at 3 p.m. in
Christ Anglican Church, Stellarton. A memorial service will be held in
Charlottetown at a later date. Donations in Nancy's memory may be made to

Hilda Hoegg

October 13, 2016.
Hoegg, Hilda Hazel, Halifax passed away Tuesday October 11, 2016 in the QE11
Health Science Centre.
Born in Stellarton to parents Hugh and Beatrice (Frampton).
Hilda was a graduate of Stellarton High School and the Aberdeen Hospital
School of Nursing, placing fourth in the Nova Scotia in the RN examinations.
Upon graduation, Hilda joined the staff of the Blanchard Fraser Memorial
Hospital in Kentville, from there to Prince George District Hospital in
British Columbia and the University Hospital in Edmonton and Welland County
General Hospital in Ontario.
Always interested in continuing education, Hilda received a Diploma in
Nursing Education from the University of Western Ontario in London and a
Diploma in Effective Supervision and Management from Niagara College in
Welland. Hilda also received formal acknowledgement from Dalhousie
University as a teaching preceptor.
Hilda spent twenty-five years at Port Colborne General Hospital teaching and
in Administration as Director of In-service Education. Returning to Nova
Scotia, Hilda was four years at Kings-Edgehill as resident nurse and
teaching grades 7-8 and 9 and later retired from nursing at Camp Hill
Hospital, Halifax.
Hilda was a member of the College of Nurses of Ontario, Registered Nurses of
Nova Scotia and Ontario respectively, and Alumni of the University of
Western Ontario and Aberdeen Hospital.
Hilda enjoyed playing Bridge and was a member of the Halifax Bridge Club.
Hilda is survived by brothers John Hugh, Stellarton; R.A. “Tim”, Truro; and
sister Margie Fraser, West River Station; several nieces and nephew.
Besides her parents, Hilda was predeceased by a sister Rebecca ”Bess” and
husband C.G. “Irish” Brennan, brother Robert “Bob” and wife Betty (Dunlop)
Hoegg, sister-in-law Lillian (wife of John), Gladys, wife of Tim,
brother-in-law Birt Fraser, husband of Margie, nephews David Hoegg and Bobby
Hoegg, children of Tim and Gladys, niece Nancy Hoegg, child of Bob and Betty
Hoegg, a nephew David Fraser, child of Margie and the late Birt Fraser, and
most recently by nephew-in-law, Jimmy Johnson. Hilda was also predeceased by
long time friend, Jim Calarco, Welland, Onatrio.
Hilda was a member of Christ Anglican Church, Stellarton and attended
Trinity Anglican Church, where she was an active member until her illness.
Her family would like to thank Rev. Keristen Wells and Rev. Leonard for
their prayers and visits. We also wish to thank the amazing staff on 6.2-
their care and compassion was unbelievable.
As Hilda wished, there will be no visitation. A private service for family
and invited quests will be held 11am Saturday from Christ Anglican Church,
Stellarton with Rev. Darlene Jewers presiding. Burial will take place in the
church cemetery. A reception will follow in the church hall.

Gladys Pearl Hoegg
1926-2012

Hoegg (MacDonald), Gladys Pearl, 86, of Truro, formerly of New Glasgow,
passed away peacefully on November 18 at the Colchester Regional Hospital.
Born in Westville, Pictou County, she was the daughter of the late Philip
Lowe MacDonald and Catherine Isabel (Fraser) MacDonald. Upon graduation
from Westville High School,
Gladys joined the Canadian Women's Army Corps in 1944, serving in Saint John
and Ottawa. After the War, Gladys trained at the Aberdeen School of Nursing
in New Glasgow. In 1949 she married R.A. (Tim) Hoegg and raised four
children. While raising her family, Gladys completed her business diploma,
and then worked at Thompson and Sutherland's in New Glasgow and Moore's
Sheet Metal in Stellarton. Gladys and her family moved to Truro in 1972,
where she worked as a medical records technician and medical secretary to
the pathologist. Upon retirement,
Gladys enjoyed learning the piano, downhill skiing, golfing, shopping, and
spending time with her grandchildren. She was a member of the Royal
Canadian Legion, Truro Branch and the Truro Golf Club. She had a kind heart
and a love for animals, especially her toy poodle, Mitzi. Gladys is survived
by her husband, Tim; her daughters Susan Hoegg of Ottawa and Valerie
Hoegg-Briand (Bruce Briand) of Truro; her grandchildren Jennifer Hoegg (Ross
Chapman), Emily Hoegg (Paul Aucoin), Margaret Hoegg (Mathieu Henley), Sarah
Lennerton (Jason Reynolds), Adam Lennerton (Kati Smith), Philip Vincent,
Louise Vincent, and Chloe Vincent; and her sister Phyllis Gean Christison of
Albequerque, New Mexico. Gladys is also survived by her five
great-grandchilden, Christopher, Cordelia, Josephine, Simon, and Eleanor.
She was predeceased by her parents, her sons David and Robert, and her
sister Katherine Frasier. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, November 21
from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. at the Mattatall-Varner Funeral Home, 55 Young Street
Truro. The funeral service will be held on Thursday, November 22 at 2:00
p.m. at St. John the Evangelist Anglican Church in Truro, with The Rev. Lori
Ramsey officiating. The committal will take place on Saturday, November 24
at 2:00 p.m. at Christ Church Cemetery in Stellarton. In lieu of flowers,

Robert Hoegg

Robert MacDonald Hoegg, 60, Dartmouth, passed away August 22, 2011.
Bob loved music, travel, and the beauty of nature. He cared deeply for his
family, friends, communities and colleagues. Bob leaves many friends in Nova
Scotia and beyond with fond memories of his warmth and wit.
Born in New Glasgow, son of Parents R.A. (Tim) and Gladys Hoegg. Bob is
survived by his parents; his wife Janet (Hutchinson) Hoegg; daughters:
Jennifer (Ross Chapman), Emily (Paul Aucoin) and Margaret (Mathieu Henley);
grandchildren: Christopher, Cordelia and Josephine; former wife and good
friend Anne Chaldecott; sisters, Valerie Hoegg-Briand and Susan Hoegg;
nieces: Sarah Lennerton, Chloe Vincent and Louise Vincent; nephews, Adam
Lennerton and Philip Vincent; aunts: Margie Fraser, Betty Hoegg and Gean
Christison; uncle John Hoegg and many cousins.
Bob was predeceased by his brother David, uncle Bob Hoegg and several aunts.
Bob attended the University of Kings College and later earned an executive
MBA from Saint Mary's University.
He was a dedicated member of the federal public service since he began with
EIC (now Service Canada) in Kentville in 1974. He moved to Health Canada in
1985 and then to ACOA in 1995. At retirement, Bob was Director,
Intergovernmental Affairs and Coordination ACOA (Nova Scotia).
Funeral arrangements are entrusted to J.A. Snow Funeral Home, 339 Lacewood
Dr., Halifax (902) 455-0531. Funeral service will be held at St. Margaret's
of Scotland Anglican Church, 3761 Robie Street, Halifax, 2 p.m. August 25.

Hennigar, Barbara Hoegg, of Stellarton, formerly of Cambridge, passed away
Thursday, November 17, 2016 in the Aberdeen Hospital, New Glasgow.

Born March 16, 1952 in New Glasgow, she was the daughter of Marguerite
“Margie” (Hoegg) Fraser and the late Robert “Bert” Fraser of West River
Station.

Besides her mother, she is survived by her husband of 42 years Bill, and
their children David, Calgary and Abigail “Abbi”, Halifax. She is also
survived by her sisters Rosalie (Serge) Lavoie, Ottawa and Cathy (Jack)
Lewis, New Glasgow; brothers Robert “Rob” Fraser, West River Station, John
Fraser (Kelly), Coldbrook; Glen Fraser (Kim), Durham; Eldred Fraser (Lori),
Berwick; and Derek Fraser (Helen), Berwick; sister-in-law Kathy MacNaughton,
Westville, and several nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her father Bert and brother David Fraser, as well as
her in-laws Jim and Gladys Hennigar.

Her family would like to thank the staff and nurses of the Aberdeen Hospital
E.R. and Fourth Floor, Oncology Dept, and Palliative Care Units, as well as
Dr. Jeans, Dr. Younis, Dr. Craig, and Dr. Kwasnik.

Her family will receive visitors on Sunday, Nov. 20 from 1-4 p.m. and 6-8
p.m. at Eagles Funeral Home, Westville. Her memorial service will be held
11 a.m. Monday from St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church, Gairloch with Bonnie
Langille and Rev. Charles MacPherson officiating. Donations in her memory
may be made to the Aberdeen Palliative Care Society, St. Andrew’s
