OBITUARY
Mrs. Caroline A. Elliott
ECONOMY, May 17 - The death of Mrs. Caroline Athelea Frederick Elliott, widow of the late Capt. Jessie Elliott, occurred in St. Clair shore, Michigan at her daughter's, Mrs. Christena Durning, where she made her home since her husband's death in 1950.
For the past few years the late Mrs. Elliott, had not been enjoying good health. She was born in Upper Economy, 88 years ago, and is the last member of her family. After her marriage, she lived in Economy on Park St., where all her family was born and grew up, leaving this community in 1940. Although a few years previous to this she and her husband had lived in Penfield Ridge, N.B.
The funeral service was held in the Economy United Church on Tuesday afternoon, May 8, conducted by Rev. W. K. MacKay, of Bass River. Hymns sung were, "What A Friend We Have In Jesus," and "Abide With Me."
Present at the funeral service, were all of her family: Mrs. Christena Durning and Mrs. Victor Hall (Dora) of St. Clair Shores, Michigan, Mrs. Percy Roberts, (Hatie) Everett, Mass.; Clarence, Red Beach, Maine; Alfred, Scituate, Mass.; Chester, East Detroit, Michigan.
Two sons, Herman and Carl predeceased her. Among the friends who attended the service was Mrs. Ira Taylor, now of Bass River, Mrs. Wesley Elliott, a sister-in-law was able to be present, owing to Mr. Elliott's illness he could not attend, but his sons, Ira and Ed., and their wives were present Mrs. Pearl Willigar, a niece, was also present.
Pall bearers were B. J. Fulmore, Delbert Morrison, Churchill Newton, Archibald Taylor, Blanchard Simpson and Fred Durning. Interment was in the family plot in the Economy cemetery.
