Nolan R. Morris Jr. of Newburyport, a former accountant and city auditor, died Aug. 10 at the Port Healthcare Center in Newburyport. He was 77.
He was born in Newburyport and attended Newburyport schools. In 1945, he enlisted in the Navy and served in China. He was a graduate of Newburyport High and Burdett College.
He worked at the former Towle Silversmith in Newburyport and also as an accountant in Boston. In 1970, he was named city auditor of Newburyport. He later worked as an accountant at the Middleton correctional center. He was a member of the Newburyport Retirement Board for 34 years and of the Massachusetts Municipal Auditors and Accountants Association. …
