OBITUARY
Mrs. Fred Canning
BASS RIVER, May 5 - There passed away on Sunday, April 29, at her home here, Mrs. Fred Canning, after an illness of over a year, nine months of which was spent at the Victoria General Hospital, Halifax, returning in December to her home where she was tenderly cared for by her family and friends. Outstanding with their professional services, were two intimate friends, Mrs. J. A. Wilson, R.N., and Mrs. Ronald Burns, R.N.
The late Mrs Canning was the second daughter of the late Isaac Munro and Teresa Davidson Munro. She was a life-long resident here and will be remembered by all for her musical talent, which she used for over 40 years as Organist of the Bass River Baptist Church of which she was a faithful member.
During her early life, Mrs. Canning, then Minnie Munro, was on the Office Staff of Dominion Chair Company, Limited, for about 15 years.
She leaves to mourn their loss, her husband, one daughter, Ardith, and one son, Hugh, besides a wide circle of relatives and friends by whom she will always be remembered for her cheerfulness. One son, Cyril, precessed her a few years ago in Toronto, also one sister, Lena, about two years ago.
The funeral service was held at the Baptist Church here on Tuesday afternoon, May 1, at 2:30, conducted by the Pastor, Rev. G. W. Fletcher, who spoke comforting words, and told of her faithfulness for so many years in her capacity as Organist and other branches of the church work.
Two favorite hymns of the deceased were sung: "I Shall Know Him" and "My Jesus I Love Thee." The floral tributes were beautiful. Pallbearers were Leland Hegan, Stanley Fulton, Robert O'Brien, Jr., and Hilbert Taylor. Interment in the Baptist Church Cemetery.
