Valerie J. Smiley
1956-2017

The passing of Valerie Joyce Smiley, 60, of Wallace, NS, occurred with her
family by her side, at the Colchester East Hants Regional Hospital, Truro,
on Sunday, March 12, 2017. Born in Amherst, Valerie was a daughter of Danny
and Doris White and her step-father, Darrell LeBlanc of River Hebert.

Valerie loved Bass fishing, doing target practice with high-powered rifles,
and taking hikes on the beach to pick up beach glass. Her Chihuahuas, C.J.
and Cracker, were a very important part of her life, and she enjoyed
spending her time with them. She hated to say goodbye to them due to her
illness.

She will be deeply missed by her husband, David Smiley, of Wallace; her
parents, Danny White and Doris White, both of Amherst; her step-father,
Darrell LeBlanc, River Hebert; two daughters, Danielle White, Amherst and
Amber MacKay, Amherst; a step-daughter, Stephanie (Brad), two step-sons,
Derek (Veronica) and Morgan; four grandchildren, Marc, Drake, Cameron, and
Avery; a sister, Rose White and brothers, Mark and Jeff White and her niece
Amanda and nephew Dwayne.

Valerie was predeceased by her sister, Wilma White and her maternal
grandparents Harris and Helen (Melanson) O'Brien.

Arrangements are under the care and guidance of Furlong~Jones Funeral Home,
70 Church Street, Amherst from where family and friends are invited to a
time of visitation from 6-9 pm on Thursday, March 16, 2017. A funeral
service will be held at the funeral home on Friday at 2 pm. Rev. Byron
Corkum officiating.

Donations in memory of Valerie may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society.
