Isabelle Mabel Colburne, born Shulie

DICKIE, ISABELLE M. (1916 - 2008) - Isabelle M. Dickie died peacefully at
The Moncton Hospital on Wednesday, May 7th, 2008. Born in Shulee, NS,
September 12th, 1916, she was the daughter of the late Lloyd H. and Abigail
(Mills) Colburne. She graduated from Plaster Rock High School in 1933, and
the Provincial Normal School in1934. Isabelle taught at Wapske, Plaster
Rock, Beaconsfield School, Havelock St. School, and Maces Bay School,
specializing in teaching grade 1. Isabelle loved to sew, and she traveled
widely with her family. Following retirement, she wintered in Florida for
many years with her husband Douglas. Isabelle is survived by her husband of
68 years, Douglas W. Dickie of Riverview; children, Rheese Dickie (Margaret)
of Bathurst, Suzanne Cushing (William) of St. Catherine's ON, John Dickie
(Margot) of Washington, DC, Joanne Russell (Greg) of Quispamsis, Carolyn
Donovan (Dennis) of St. John's NL.; 13 grandchildren, 14 great
grandchildren, as well as several nieces and nephews. In addition to her
parents she was predeceased by her brother, Courtney Colborne. Resting at
Fair Haven Funeral Home with visitation on Saturday May 10th from 1 to 2 pm.
The funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm in the chapel of Fair Haven
Funeral Home on Saturday, May 10th, 2008, Rev. Aaron Billard officiating. A
reception will follow the service in the Garden View Reception room of the
funeral home. Interment in Fair Haven Memorial Gardens. Donations in memory
of Isabelle may be made to a charity of the donor's choice. Funeral

DOUGLAS WELLS (1915 - 2010) DICKIE
DICKIE, DOUGLAS WELLS (1915 - 2010) - The death of Douglas Dickie of
Riverview occurred at the Moncton Hospital on Friday, February 12th, 2010.
He was in his 95th year and was predeceased in 2008 by his wife of 68 years,
Isabelle (Colbourne). He was born in Dorchester, NB on April 19th, 1915, the
son of the late John Seaton and Evalina (Irvine) Dickie. He grew up in
Moncton and following his graduation from the NB Normal School, he taught in
schools in New Brunswick. He began teaching at the Saint John Vocational
School in 1947, retiring in 1975 as head of the Academic and Science
Department. During this time he obtained a Bachelor of Arts and Bachelor of
Education from UNB. He was involved in several areas of music and was
lieutenant in the Army reserve. He was the co-ordinator of Night School in
District 20 for the NB Community College until 1982. Following retirement,
he and his wife spent many winters in Florida and summer in Grand Barachois,
NB. He is survived by his children; Rheese (Sharon), Bathurst, Suzanne
Cushing (Bill), St. Catherine's, ON, John (Margot), Potomac Falls, Virginia,
Joanne Russell (Greg), Quispamsis, Carolyn Donovan (Dennis), St. John's, NL,
13 grandchildren- Stephen Andrew, Heather Christ (Marcus), Elaine Godin
(Daniel), Donna Cushing (Graham Prodger), David Cushing (Mary Ann), Katie
Cushing, Ruth-Anne Dickie, Douglas Dickie (Corinna), Shannon Willett (Nick),
Andrew Russell (Sandra), Michael Goss, Joanna Hartley (Ed), Marsha Goss
(Rob); 11 great-grand children-Margie Christ, Larissa and Amanda Godin,
Andrew Cushing, Jack and Erica Prodger, Noah and Rebecca Munsie, Ethan and
Daniel Hartley and William Goss. He was predeceased by his brothers;
Russell, Ronald and Rheese Dickie and his sisters; Celia Dewar, Marjorie
Conway and Myrtis Humphrey as well as his daughter-in-law Margaret (Staples)
Dickie and three infant great-grandsons. Visitation will be held at Fair
Haven Funeral Home on Tuesday, February 16th, 2010 from 10:00 to 11:00 am.
Memorial service to follow in the Chapel of Fair Haven Funeral Home at 11:00
am with a reception in the Garden View Reception Room. Interment in
Fairhaven Memorial Gardens. Arrangements entrusted to Fair Haven Funeral
