WHITEHOUSE, Cora Jean

Age 93, Evergreen Home for Special Care, Kentville, passed away peacefully on October 13, 2013, in the home. Born in Brazil Lake, Yarmouth Co., she was a daughter of the late Eugene and Martha (Burrill) Crosby. Cora spent several years teaching school, followed by co-ownership of Lite Lunch Restaurant in Coldbrook. She also worked for Statistics Canada before retiring. She enjoyed oil and watercolor painting, ceramics, travelling and card games with family and friends. She is survived by son, Earl (Carol) Hurlburt, Cambridge-Narrows, N.B.; two grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; five great great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her first husband, Robert Hurlburt and second husband, Ansel Whitehouse; sister, Alta
Dennison; granddaughter, Kim Leslie. There will be no visitation by family request. A memorial service will be held Wednesday, October 16, at 11 a.m. in Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witness, 825 Park St., Kentville, Chris Plant officiating. Burial will be held in Elmgrove Cemetery, Steam Mill. Donations in memory may be made to Heart and Stroke Foundation of Nova Scotia or to a charity of choice. Arrangements have been entrusted to Serenity Lindsay Funeral Homes, Wolfville Chapel. On-line condolences may be sent to:

With that, I then found his wife’s obit on nsobits.ca

Edna references a daughter, Kimberly Leslie not mentioned in Horace’s obit.

Not sure if “Leslie” is a maiden surname, middle name or married surname.

HUGHES, Edna Louise - 90, Silvers Rest Home, Berwick, formerly of New Minas and Coldbrook, Kings Co., passed away Tuesday, January 18, 2005, in Valley Regional Hospital, Kentville. Born in Coldbrook, she was a daughter of the late Garfield and Zilphy (Fuller) Hayes. Along with her late husband, Horace, she operated the post office and grocery store in Coldbrook and later owned and operated Hughes Grocery Store in Canning. She made her home in New Minas for several years, where she had been a member of New Minas Baptist Church and the 50-Plus Seniors Club. She is survived by son, Lorne (Louise), High River, Alta.; daughter, Carol (Earl) Hurlbert, Cambridge Narrows, N.B.; five grandchildren and six great-grandchildren; brothers, Robert (Beatrice), John (Mary), Laurie (Angeline) and Roy (Rozella), all of Coldbrook; several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Horace; daughter, Kimberly Leslie; sister, Muriel Yeaton. Visitation will be held from 7-9 p.m. Thursday, January 20, in White Family Funeral Home, Kentville, where a funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Friday, January 21, Pastor Gary Countway officiating. Burial will take place in Elm Grove Cemetery, Steam Mill. Family flowers only by request. Donations in memory may be made to Valley Regional Hospital. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to White Family Funeral Home, Kentville.

OBITUARY
Horace E. Hughes
COLDBROOK - Horace E. Hughes, 71, of Coldbrook, died Thursday in Blanchard Fraser Memorial Hospital, Kentville.
Born in Fox River, Cumberland County, he was a son of the late Robert and Bessie (Graham) Hughes.
He was a well-known merchant who owned and operated Hughes' Grocery in Canning, Kings County, until moving to Coldbrook in 1963. He was a member of the Canadian Order of Foresters, and of Hiawatha Lodge 57, IOOF, Kentville.
He is survived by his wife, the former Edna Hayes; a daughter, Carol (Mrs. Earl Hurlburt), Quispamsis, N.B.; a son, Lorne, Calgary, Alta., and six grandchildren.
He was predeceased by six brothers and a sister.
The body is in W. C. Hiltz Funeral Home, Kentville, where funeral will be 2 p.m. Sunday, Rev. Vincent Rushton officiating, with burial in Elm Grove Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society, Canning United Church Memorial Fund or any charity.
