EAGLES, Louis D - 82, Five Islands, Colchester, died 15 Nov 1997, at home. Born on John Eagles Mountain, Lower Five Islands, he was a son of the late Oscar and Bertha (Webb) Eagles. He was a veteran of the Second World War, serving in Italy and England. He spent his working life in Halifax until his retirement to Five Islands. He was a member of Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 72, Great illage. He is survived by son, David and wife Linda, Fall River; sisters, Mrs Charlotte Vance, Joggins; Mrs Ester O'Hearn, Lower Five Islands; brothers, Wilbert and wife Nellie, Joggins; Charles and wife Jean, Lower Five Islands; granddaughter, Tara Leigh, Fall River; several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his wife, Joan; sisters, Nellie, Florence, Frances; brother, Lloyd. Funeral service will be held 2pm Tuesday in Smiths Funeral Home, Parrsboro, Rev Jeffrey White officiating. Burial in Peniel United Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to South Cumberland Community Day Care Program.

EAGLES, JOAN L
EAGLES, Joan L - 71, Five Islands, Colchester, died 19 Apr 1994 in SCMH, Parrsboro. Born in Eltham, London, England, she was the daughter of the late Ted and Lillian Kitterhing. During the second World War she served with the Ladies Timber Corps in England and immigrated to Canada as a war bride in 1946. She was a member of the Great Village Legion Ladies Auxilliary and Five Islands Womens Institute. She is survived by her husband, Louis; son, David, Fall River; sister, Gladys, Mrs James Powell, Eltham; two brothers, Robert, Tony, both of Eltham; granddaughter Tara-Leigh. She was predeceased by a brother, James. A memorial service will be 2pm Friday in Smiths Funeral Home, Parrsboro, Rev Eric Miner officiating. Burial to follow in Peniel United Cemetery, Five Islands. Donations may be made to any charity.
