THOMPSON, Mary Alexandra "Sandra" - 70. Beloved wife of Rev. Kenneth L.
Thompson of Spencer Memorial Home, Moncton and formerly of Charlottetown,
passed away peacefully at her residence on Wednesday, October 6, 1999. Born
in Centreville, Sandra was the daughter of the late Archibald and Grace
(Murchison) MacLeod. Sandra was licensed to preach in 1951 in St. Andrew's,
N.B., and along with her husband were graduates of Acadia University 1952.
Sandra served with her husband in Baptist ministries throughout Atlantic
Canada for 47 years. Sandra was awarded the Dominion Life Membership with
UBWMU, was director of DVBS, former Sunday school teacher, leader of CGIT
and team ministries with her husband during the latter years of their
ministry, at each of their pastoral charges it was tradition for Sandra to
be the speaker on Mother's Day. Sandra will be sadly missed by her
daughters, Paula Holden (Rev. Blair), Riverview; Elizabeth MacKinnon
(Timothy), St. Lambert, Que.; sons, Rev. Paul (Dianne), Fredericton; Mark
(Valerie), Halifax; Andrew (Elaine), Charlottetown; 15 grandchildren;
sister, Barbara Morgan (Arthur), Princeton, N.J.; brothers, Archie MacLeod,
Summerside; Bentley MacLeod (Hugette), Oakville, Ont.; several nieces and
nephews. She was predeceased by brother, Hinson; sister, Marion. The body is
resting in Ferguson Knowles Funeral Home, 1657 Mountain Rd., Moncton, with
visitation 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Sunday. Service in Gunningsville United Baptist
Church, Old Coach Road, Riverview, Monday October 11, at 11 a.m., Rev. Blair
Holden officiating. Reception in the church hall following the service.
Interment in Polly Cemetery, Point Prim, P.E.I. In Sandra's memory donations
may be made to Parkinson Foundation of Canada or IWK Grace, Halifax, would
be appreciated by her family.
