Marvin Arthur Brown
1943-2017

Marvin Arthur Brown ­ 73, of Centreville, Kings County, passed away on
Saturday, February 25, 2017. Born in Kentville, he was a son of the late
Garfield and Leah (Ward) Brown. He was a member the Canadian Armed Forces
retiring as CWO with RCEME after 28 years of service. He served as a
peacekeeper in many different countries during his career. Following his
retirement from the military, he had been employed with Davis Engineering in
Ottawa, Ontario. He was a member of the United Nations Peacekeeping
Association, Greenwood Branch, the Royal Canadian Legion, Kings Branch No.
6, Kentville, the RCEME Association, the Northville Farm Heritage Centre and
the Antique Engine and Tractor Association, Windsor. Marvin enjoyed the
outdoors and was always tinkering with old Make and Break and steam engines.
He was a friend to all who knew him and liked by many. He is survived by
his wife, Joan (LeBlanc); a grandson, Ryan (that he and Joan raised as a
son); step-sons, Bruce (Jayne) Harkness, George (Vel) Harkness, Steve
Harkness and Glenn (Michelle) Harkness; step-grandchildren, Kayleigh,
Brandon and Kasey; sisters, Judy (Leo) Murphy, Ardythe (Robert) Manson and
Gail Brown; brothers, Linden (Linda), Gary (Helen) and Stephen; many nieces,
nephews and extended family. He was predeceased by a sister, Elaine Mills;
brothers, Eric and Hugh. Cremation has taken place. Visitation will be held
from 6-8 p.m. Sunday, March 5, 2017 in the White Family Funeral Home,
Kentville, where a combined Royal Canadian Legion and funeral service will
be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, March 6, 2017, Reverend Gerald Zinck
officiating. A reception will follow at the Royal Canadian Legion, Kings
Branch No. 6, Kentville. Burial will take place at a later date. Donations
in memory may be made to a charity of your choice. Arrangements have been
entrusted to the White Family Funeral Home and Cremation Services,
Kentville.
