OBITUARY:
Springhill town councillor committed following service
Springhill - Lawrence Edward Ross, 60, Springhill town councillor, was
committed in Springhill memorial receiving vault following funeral service
in St. Andrew's Wesley United Church, with Rev. Boyd Butt officiating,
assisted by Rev. E.J. Gazzard. Burial will be later in the spring in
Hillside cemetery.

Born in Parrsboro, he was a son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Watson MacKay Ross.

Elected to council in December, 1970, he served as chairman of the town's
public works and welfare committees. He was a member of the school board and
All Saints Hospital board. A retired merchant, he was also a leader of the
Springhill 4-H project club. He was also a member of St. Andrew's Wesley
United Church Session.

Surviving besides his wife, the former Violet Jones, are a son, Lawrence,
Springhill; two brothers, Max, River Philip; William, Greenfield Park, Que.;
four sisters, Mrs. Amanda Bell, Medicine Hat, Alta.; Mrs. Gladys Goodison,
St. Catharines, Ont.; Mrs. Maida Morine, Wolfville; and Mrs. Verona Chapman,
in the United States.
