I'm new to this group. My grandmother, Viola Amelia [Fowler] Chapman (1886 - 1991) was born in Amherst along with all her siblings, Estella Lillian, Beatrice Mary, Minnie May, Alice Raycliffe, Bertram Baynes, William Leslie and Gerald. Their parents were William Ernest Fowler and Lydia Anne Marie West. They were married in 1891 in Shediac, NB and were living there with her family (George Gideon West) in the 1891 census. I have a lot of information on the West ancestry, but I have nothing on William. My grandmother, who got me interested in genealogy when I was just a kid, didn't even know when or where he was born or who is parents were. I know he is listed as being born in NB, but I haven't found any significant evidence of that. I know he died in 1899 in Amherst (some sort of epidemic that killed two of his children as well) but I don't have any specific info on his death either, like what was the date and where is he buried.
So... I was wondering if anyone on this list might have any leads that would help me find out more about this mysterious great grandfather.
One further clue. I just did my DNA and found that I am 6% Central/South Asia, and I suspect it may be from William's branch, because I have no evidence on any of my other branches.
Thanks,
Ken Chapman
