Emily V. Dewis and Annie Alyce Dewis were adopted by a Nichols family, Emily changed her name to Ruth Nichols and Annie changed her name to Alyce Nichols.

OBITUARY:
Dewis, Scott A. - 82, Advocate, Cumberland County, died Tuesday in Gables
Lodge, Amherst. Born in Advocate, he was a son of the late Robert and Emma
(Stevens) Dewis. He was a retired lumberman. He is survived by two brothers,
Rhodes, Advocate; John, Montague, P.E.I.; three sisters, Mrs. Georgie Lent,
Advocate; Mrs. Ruth Pierce, Marblehead, Mass.; Mrs. Alice Wallace, Needham,
Mass.; many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his wife, the former
Annie Robinson; a brother, James; a half-brother, Stephen. The body is in
Smith's Funeral Home, Parrsboro, visiting 2-4, 7-9 p.m., today, where
funeral will be 2 p.m. Thursday, Rev. Eric Miner officiating. Burial will be
in Advocate Cemetery. Donations may be made to any charity.
