Obit 2013- Grace E Maynard (Morris related in Advocate)

Maynard, Grace (Morris), 99, of Avery Heights, Hartford, widow of George B. Maynard, Jr., passed away on Saturday, May 4, 2013. Born in New Jersey, daughter of Grace (Nichols) and Richie H. Morris, she had resided in West Hartford most of her life and spent summers at the family's lake cottage in Vernon. A long-time member of the Universalist Church of West Hartford, in 1990 she received the Wallace Fiske award for Distinguished Service. Among her favorite hobbies was gardening; she was an active member of the West Hartford Garden Club for twenty-five years and was made an Honorary Member in 2005. A graduate of Bay Path College, Grace had been employed as secretary at Conning & Company, Hartford Empire Company, Kingswood School, and the Hartford Seminary Foundation. Throughout their married life she and George enjoyed trips to Maine and Nova Scotia and, after retirement, they traveled in Europe with friends. Grace had a keen interest in family heritage and was thrilled when, at age 82, she visited the home where her grandfather was born in Devonshire, England.
Grace is survived by her son Robert Maynard and his partner Joyce Goode of East Windsor, her daughter and son-in-law Judy and Dave Kilbon of East Granby, grandsons David and Jim Cersosimo and Josh Maynard, four great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her sisters, Helen Breece and Ruth Walsh.
A memorial service will be conducted on May 25, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. at the Avery Heights Chapel, 705 New Britain Avenue, Hartford, CT, followed by a reception.
