Obituary: Mary Louise Armstrong
Calais - Mary Louise Armstrong, 84, died Oct. 8, 1995, at a Calais nursing
home after a long battle with cancer. She was born Sept. 26, 1911, at
Calais, the daughter of John W. and Myrtle (Morrill) Cavanagh. She was a
member of many local organizations including Orion Chapter No. 45 OES and a
member and past noble grand of Mayflower Rebekah Lodge. She was also a
member of St. Croix Country Club, the St. Croix Bowling Club and Sherman
Brothers Post Unit No. 3 American Legion Auxiliary of Calais. She was a
lifelong member and devoted worker of St. Ann's Episcopal Church. Until her
retirement, she owned and operated Nu-Way Dry Cleaners in Calais. Louise was
predeceased by her husband, Vose L. Armstrong Sr., in 1953. Surviving are a
son, Vose L. Armstrong Jr. and his wife, Phyllis of Ellsworth; a daughter,
Sandra A. Ramsay and her husband, Henry L. Sr. of Calais; two sisters,
Althea Perkins of Brunswick and Eleanor Hincks of Portland; one brother,
John Gerald Cavanagh of Calais; six grandchildren, one special
step-grandson; 11 great-grandchildren, and several nephews. At the request
of the deceased, there will be no visiting hours or funeral services, and
donations in her memory to the Building Fund of St. Ann's Episcopal Church
of Calais, or the charity of one's choice, would be greatly appreciated.
