Title: Re: [nscumber] Lena Elmira (Wooff) Mosher [Morris related]
Hi David,

Never found her obit in the Chronicle Herald CD at the library, when I found Doug's obit a few years back.  I should make a trip to the archives myself one of these days....Lena's death record says she was buried in Stellarton, but don't know what cemetery.

Marjorie

Hi Marjorie:

Thanks for the full death date and location.

You were mentioning not finding Lena’s 1964 obit. If you haven’t already tried the New Glasgow Evening News, I can look the next time I’m into the Archives. I’m assuming it wasn’t in the Chronicle Herald.

I didn’t have time to make it to the Archives today with several other things on the go; hopefully next week.

Dave

Hi Marjorie

Unfortunately, I don't have access to their obits. I suppose father Roy/Ray never came back to N.S., hence the new identity. The posting below is also interesting. Appears son Eugene was sent to Mass. in 1925, I assume to Lena's brother Ralph who is there. The document image was only half legible (out of focus).

Speculation that Gerry was not Roy's son and that led to Roy leaving Lena in 1924.  Having spoken with cousins in Ontario, who used to live in NS, Lena lived with them for a while before they booted her out.  According to my step mother,  after Roy and Lena parted, Lena moved to Salt Springs with Gerry and Eugene, and put Doug  (my father) in foster care with a Smith family in Hants County.  Gerry's purported father was a MacPherson, from Salt Springs, with whom she also had a daughter Margaret? Lena kept house for this MacPherson.

Is there a marriage record for Raymond Walker and Esther?

Thanks Steve. Great detective work.

The three boys of this marriage appear to be:

Eugene Roy Wooff, born 17 May 1917 at Avonport
Douglas Earl Wooff, born 5 May 1920 at Newport
Gerald Aubrey Wooff, born 22 Nov 1922 at Newport.

She was the d/o James William Mosher and Mary Lucetta Morris [Advocate Harbour].

Lena and Roy parted ways circa 1924 and Roy left for the states and changed his identity to Raymond Walker, then settled in Connecticut with a new family.
