Predeceased by brothers, Hughie, Aubrey. OBITUARY:
Mitchell, Raymond Leroy - 72, 7 Agnew St., Amherst, died Sunday in Highland
View Regional Hospital, Amherst. Born in Amherst, he was a son of the late
George and Elizabeth (Arenburg) Mitchell. He was a retired coal miner and a
member of Christ Church, Amherst. He is survived by his common-law wife, the
former Erdeen (Gower) Ongo; two daughters, (Mrs. Hermen Landry), Amherst;
Libby (Mrs. Leonard Henwood), Parrsboro; six sons, Aubrey, Edmonton; Jerry,
Oshawa, Ont.; Lewis, Amherst; Frankie, River Hebert, Cumberland County;
Neil, Joggins; Hughie, Scarborough, Ont.; a step daughter, Marlene (Mrs. Reg
Brown), Southampton, Cumberland County; four sisters, Lil (Mrs. Clovie
Boudreau), Hazel Parsons, both of Joggins; Mrs. Phyllis Baxter, Oshawa; Mrs.
Mae Leonard, Sarnia, Ont.; a brother, Dorey, Oshawa, Ont.; 14 grandchildren.
He was predeceased by three sisters, Violet, Nel, Janet; a brother, Fred.
The body is in Furlongs Funeral Home, Amherst, visiting 2-4, 7-9 p.m. today.
Funeral will be 11 a.m. Tuesday in Christ Church, Rev. David Myles
officiating. Burial will be in Hillside Cemetery, River Hebert East,
Cumberland County.

FOUNTAIN, Vilda Rose "Dubby" - 77, Gables Lodge, Amherst, died Tuesday,
December 31, 2002, in the lodge. Born in Great Village, she was a daughter
of the late Hughie and Elizabeth (Perrin) Forbes (Parrsboro). Her remains
are resting in Campbell's Funeral Home, 98 Church St., Amherst, with
visiting 2-4, 7-9 p.m. today. Funeral service will be held 1 p.m. Friday in
Campbell's Chapel, Rev. Danny Compton officiating. Interment will take place
in Parrsboro. Donations in her memory may be made to the Canadian Cancer
Society, Lung Association of Nova Scotia or Canadian Diabetes Association.

Passed in: Newfoundland and Labrador, Canada
The death of Erdeen (Deanie) Ongo, age 84, occurred suddenly at the
Cumberland Regional Health Care Centre on Monday, May 11, 2009.

Born in River Hebert, she was a daughter of the late Frederick and Cherry
(CHAY) (Hoeg) Gower. Erdeen was employed at Margolians for 32 years retiring
at age 69. She was a member of the Senior Citizens and Retired Pensioners
Organization, Springhill, and very active in her everyday life.

Erdeen will be sadly missed by her daughter, Marlene Brown; grandchildren,
Bethany and Stephen Brown; 2 great grandchildren, Blake and Bennett and a
brother, Cecil (Bud) (Doris) Gower, Grande Cache, AB. She was predeceased by
a brother Vernon.

The remains have been entrusted into the care of the A.H. Brown Funeral
Home, Springhill, (597-2361) from where the funeral service was held
Thursday, May 14, 2009 at 2 pm. Burial in the Hillside Cemetery, River
Hebert. Visitation was held at the funeral home on Wednesday from 2 to 4 and

South Cumberland Community Care Centre, Parrsboro. Born in Springhill, he
was a son of the late Oliver and Edith (Phinney) Henwood. He is survived by
a daughter, Sheila Henwood, Parrsboro; stepdaughter, Tracy Redmond (Brian),
Parrsboro; grandchildren, Devon, Emma, Renée; sisters, Kathleen “Kay”
Willigar, Barbara MacKenzie (Duncan), Loretta Taylor, all of Parrsboro;
Stella Henwood (Mike Hughes), Halifax; brothers, William “Billy”, Gordon
(Joanne), all of West Bay; chosen brother, Dennis Blenkhorn, River Hebert;
several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by sisters, Muriel
and Cassie in infancy; brothers, Philip, Ronald and Clifford;
brothers-in-law, Bennie Willigar and Ralph Taylor. Visitation 2-4, 6-8 p.m.
on Wednesday [May 20, 2015] at Smith’s Funeral Home, Parrsboro, where
funeral service will be held 2:00 p.m. on Thursday [May 21, 2015], Rev. Dawn
Léger officiating. Reception to follow at the St. George’s Church Hall,
Parrsboro. Burial in West Bay Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to
the a charity of choice.
