Ruth G. Fullerton-Bain
1917 - 2015

  Fullerton-Bain, Ruth G. ­ 98, of Parrsboro. It is with gratitude for her
life and sadness for her loss that we announce the passing of Ruth G.
(Fraser) Fullerton-Bain on Monday, August 17, 2015 at the South Cumberland
Community Care Centre, Parrsboro. Born in Parrsboro, she was the daughter of
the late Carl and Edna (Thompson) Fraser. Ruth graduated from Mount Allison
University in Sackville, N.B. and later married Bruce Fullerton in 1941.
Together, they raised their family and built a successful law practice in
Parrsboro at Bruce¹s father, Varley¹s, office. In later years, she was
office manager for Dr. Arno Elmik in Parrsboro. She was active in the
Liberal Association of Nova Scotia and was Liberal Candidate for Cumberland
West in the Provincial Election in 1967. A life-long supporter of Trinity
United Church, Ruth was President of the U.C.W., church choir member, leader
of Boy Scouts, honored by the Red Cross for 35 years¹ service, more than 30
years with the Cumberland Health Board, numerous other charities and
organizations. She dedicated her time to make a positive difference with
grace and sincerity. W. Bruce Fullerton, QC, predeceased Ruth in May of
1986. In 1988, Ruth married Lewis L. Bain, and lived in Hunts Point,
returning to Parrsboro following his death in 2004. Ruth is survived by her
children, Grant (Linda), Toronto; Pam Haley (Ken), Chris (Debbie), all of
Parrsboro; grandchildren, Colin Fullerton (Tasha), Cole Fullerton (Meagan),
Peter Haley (Lidia), David Haley (Christine), Ruth Ann Haley (Tom), Darcy
Aloi (John), Candace Fougere (Robert); 8 great-grandchildren; step-children,
Elizabeth Edge (Roger), John Bain (Charlene); daughter-in-law, Kathy
Fullerton. Visitation 6-8 pm on Wednesday [August 19, 2015] at Smith¹s
Funeral Home, Parrsboro. Funeral 2 p.m. on Thursday [August 20, 2015] at
Trinity United Church, Parrsboro, Keith Selwyn-Smith, DLM officiating.
Reception to follow in the vestry (lower level) of Trinity United Church.
Burial in the Parrsboro United Cemetery. Memorial donations in Ruth¹s memory
may be made to the South Cumberland Community Care Centre Foundation,
Trinity United Church or St. George¹s Anglican Church.
